Other notable landmarks include the Old Spanish Mission Chapel (1893), the Pioneer Cemetery (1906), and the Doniphan Ranch State Park (1975).

Victorville, California is a small city located in Kern County, California. The population was 7,337 at the 2010 census. It is the namesake of the Victorville Museum of Art and History. The area that now makes up Victorville was first populated by Native Americans as early as 1769. A mission was established there in 1821 by Father Francisco Sanchez and brother José María Borromeo, both of Spanish descent. The town's name comes from Santiago de Vera Cruz, Mexico City's second-oldest settlementsite founded on December 6, 1824 by José Vasquez de Balboa and his group of surveyors after their return from the Mexican–American War with US forces under General Antonio Lomas de Tejada. The town site lay within Alta Californa territory until it became part of the United States on February 14, 1850 during the Mexican-American War. In 1856–57, a group of investors led by James Waugh built a mill here which began operation providing water for local farmers and ranchers but later closed due to financial problems. In 1865–66, two companies organized to exploit gold near Mt Whitney – one led by John Sutter and company directed towards San Joaquin Valley; the other headed by Charles Evans Hughes focused on mining in central valley including what is now Fresno County On November 2nd 1860 President Buchanan issued Executive Order 4590 establishing Rancho Central del Norte (later Camp Cooke) east of Bakersfield just south of modern day Kingman and it took effect November 3rd 1860 cattle were started out there along side many other operations like this across what would become Southern California
In 1876, the Victorville Railroad was built to connect the town of Victorville with the larger city of Los Angeles. The railroad consisted of two tracks and ran down what is now U.S. Route 66. In 1917, the Victorville Branch Line was abandoned and deeded to the Santa Anita Park Railway.
