In 1862, David Jones established Jardine Welles Co., which became one of America's largest oil refineries. Partially due to this refining industry and also because Vacaville had already been designated a town by then – it was incorporated on November 3rd 1870 – Vacaville's growth truly began with its incorporation into the City of San Francisco on May 15th 1907 when over 60% of all residents lived within 1 mile (1 km) of downtown SF! Today there are over 12000 people living in Downtown VACAVILLE including many agriculturalists who produce everything from eggs to vegetables to fruits; some 7500 species or more plants grown indoors alone; 2 dozen breweries; dozens & dozens of restaurants serving food from around the world all within easy walking distance!

The Panic of 1893 killed off much of California's agricultural production and led to a decrease in population around Vacaville. However, within 10 years or so of his arrival John Davenport had established himself as one of the most successful ranchers operating out east in Steinbeck County - he named his ranch "Vacaville." By 1910 there were only about 100 people living hereabouts; however, this number only shrunk further during World War II when people left for war effort elsewhere or turned away from farming due to shortages after Pearl Harbor.* During World War II many residents chose to stay behind because they could not support themselves on farms postwar; instead they constructed wartime housing developments such as Airacademy* (*Airacademy Homes refers both to pre-war housing developments built by various local developers during World War II for military personnel stationed nearby) Thereafter life slowly returned to normal with returning veterans becoming key participants throughout the 50s through 70s†(*Many current residents are descendants of those original wartime settlers.) Today it still takes some time for locals to adjust back into their quiet little town – but it’s worth it when you experience what being part of something so unique has to offer!
