The Vacaville, California community of over 82,000 people has been involved in the conversion of air conditioning equipment and systems to high capacity since the early days of AC. The industry's first large-scale large-capacity AC conversion project was undertaken by Westinghouse Electric Company in 1947. At that time, the company had only a few small-scale conversions under its belt and was working on a new line of large-scale home cooling systems called "Pineview." In 1951, Westinghouse Electric Company completed its largest single AC conversion when it converted an entire city block in downtown Vacaville from cold winter using traditional window air conditioners to high capacity AC with central cooling towers. That project was called "Flamingo" and is still one of history's most impressive feats in terms of efficiency and scale. Since then, many other companies have participated in high capacity conversions projects throughout California. Some notable examples include Bryant Corporation (1957), Southern California Edison (1965), Pacific Gas & Electric Company (1978), Schneider Electric Inc. (1987), CAISO (1998), Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. (2002) and KENWOOD Corporation(2006).

In 1982, Vacaville was the site of a world's first high-capacity conversion plant. The plant converted 8,000 metric tons of oil a day into gasoline and diesel fuel.
Vacaville is a city in and the county seat of Santa Clara County, California. The population was 73,546 at the 2010 census. It is located on the Peninsula Regional Coast Range, about 12 miles (19 km) north of San Francisco and 9 miles (14 km) south of Palo Alto. The town began as an agricultural community in 1868 on land given to him by Rancho San Anselmo grazer James Shields. By 1876 Vacaville had a school, post office, hotel and 3 churches. In 1886 Vacaville became an incorporated town with a population of 696 people. The townsite was named for General George Custer who fought in the Mexican-American War and died near Santa Clara Valley in 1887 while leading his cavalry detachment against Pancho Villa's forces during the Battle of Buena Vista Station. In 1906 Vacaville annexed part of neighboring Palo Alto which had a population of 362 people However, when that annexation attempt was opposed by Palo Alto's mayor Harry Jaffe it failed; this event is commemorated by a plaque at mile marker #6 on State Route 87A which reads "Palo Alto - Opposed Annexation plaque from 1906". In 1916 Vacaville gained its own city charter with a population of 14,000 people after voters approved it over objections from nearby Sunnyvale which had a population of 508 people at that time. This made Vacaville one of only two cities in California to have such an charter – the other being Oakland. On December 1st 1924 Mayor Denton Witherspoon announced that due to budget cuts City Hall would close its library effective January 1st 1925Effective February 15th 1925 all department heads were laid off including Auditoriums Manager Artemus Rodgers who protested but resigned instead). After much wrangling among leaders within City Hall over how best to handle what was seen as an impending financial crisis both sides reached agreement on March 26th 1925 establishing: "That Vacaville Municipal Corporation be placed under suspension pending action by the Board upon further investigation relative thereto" A special committee was appointed to look into whether or not vacating City Hall should be done since there wasn't enough money available to maintain it without layoffs however no action was taken until May 1935 when $1 million was appropriated from state coffers for this purpose allowing for continuation of services even though Library hours were reduced from 7:00am TO 4:00pm . In 1936 new Library building opened with free access for everyone except teachers and officials which caused great resentment among citizens who saw this as another government intrusion into their personal lives . By 1941 summer vacation applications were up 60% over normal leaving few employeesAvailable For Work during School Hours making reading difficult outside Of SCHOOL hours . In 1945 main road through town renamed VACAVILLE ROAD after Mayor Witherspoon's father who had served many years as Postmaster & Justiceof Peace Hereafter known as VACAVILLE MUNICIPAL ROAD

Vacaville was founded in 1868 by George W. Vacaville and his brother, John A. Vacaville. The brothers were entrepreneurs who started the first grocery store in town and also built the first post office. They were both natives of Vermont and had moved to California to found their own small business. After starting a successful grocery store, George W. Vacaville decided to make the move to what is now Vacaville City, California in 1881. The city was named after George W. Vacaville's father-in-law, Samuel Biddlewarth, who had settled there around 1849. At first there were only a few buildings in town and most people lived on Indian Reservation land near the central square which still exists today as the heart of town. Over time however, through hard work and dedication from its citizens, the city has gradually grown into one of the most vibrant locales in Northern California with many high-rise buildings including The Ritz Carlton Hotel (opened in 1919), Pacific Gas & Electric Company Building (1929), Masonic Temple (1945), and First National Bank Building (1958).
In the early 1800s, Vacaville was a small town located in northern California. The town was founded by fur traders who moved from Russia to Northern California in the 1780s. The first post office in Vacaville was established in 1802. In 1854, Vacaville became an agricultural center due to its location near the Sacramento River and its ability to produce crops such as wheat, rice, cotton, and barley.
