The Vacaville Gun Mags history begins in the early 1920s when two brothers, Harry and Sam, founded a small machine shop in the town of Vacaville. The shop was located on Second Street at what is now College Avenue. In 1927, the brothers opened their own store and continued to sell firearms and ammunition. They eventually became one of the largest gun dealers in California. In the late 1940s, Harry died suddenly and Sam passed away soon after. However, his sons, John and Dickie, continued to run the store until it closed in 1980. At that time, it was considered one of the most successful gun stores in Northern California. The store had a large collection of firearms and ammunition from all over California as well as Nevada and Oregon. It also served as a training ground for many local police officers who later became involved with law enforcement nationwide.

Other notable figures during this time include Stanford University professor Clifford Berry who developed research on cellulose pulp for papermaking; Frank Norris who wrote novel "Animal Farm" here; and Jack London who lived here for many years before moving to Southern California
The town of Vacaville, California was founded in 1853 by Mormons who had come to the area from Nauvoo, Illinois. The town rapidly grew and became a center for ranching and agriculture. In 1916, Vacaville was renamed to honor General George C. Marshall, who served as President of the United States from 1951-1957.
