The holster became well-known in the firearms industry, and is still in use today. In 1928, Conger's son, Jay Conger, began manufacturing his own holsters. His company continued to grow until it became one of the largest holster manufacturers in the world. The Congers were also responsible for developing California's first concealed carry law in 1934. The law allowed Californians to carry handguns without having to obtain a permit or showing proof of insurance. This was an important step forward in protecting Californians from gun violence. In 1847, Upland became part of the Rancho Cucamonga Mexican land grant to José Joaquín de la Vega. In 1851, it was organized as a town. The first post office was founded in 1853. The name of the town was changed to Upland in 1865. A fire destroyed most of the buildings in 1915 and the current building was built that year.

Upland is a town in Kern County, California, United States. The population was 9,471 at the 2010 census. It lies on the southern edge of the San Joaquin Valley and is bordered by Bakersfield to the north and east, Nevada City to the south and west, and Redding to the northwest. The first Europeans to visit what is now Upland were Mormon pioneers in 1847-48. A post office called "Upland" was established in 1858, but it never grew large enough to become a town. In 1872, gold was discovered near Upland and settlers began flowing into the area for mineral rights; this led to Upland's incorporation as a municipality in 1914. In 1915, two brothers named Harry Waddell founded what became Waddell Oil & Gas Company; they became one of Kern County's first successful oil entrepreneurs. The company produced natural gas until it merged with ChevronTexaco in 1986. Waddell died of complications from leukemia in 1978; his son John H. Waddell succeeded him as CEO of ChevronTexaco America Inc.. In 2002-2003, ranching operations were conducted using Concentrated Solar Thermal (CST) technology on small plots located around Upland; these operations ended after difficulties arose with obtaining permits from local government officials
Upland, California was founded in 1879 by John C. Fremont and Charles M. Warner as a small community on the edge of what is now San Bernardino County. It became a town in 1887 and then a city in 1912. The city was renamed Riverside in 1932, after Riverside County, California.
