This increase in firepower also led to an increased demand for ammunition for handguns since cannons could no longer kill everyone who came across their path (.22 caliber rounds being especially popular during this time period), so pistols became more widespread (Goudreau). Consequently, bullet production rapidly expanded during these years as shooters realized just how efficient guns could be when firing large numbers of projectiles at once (Kramer). In 1942, General Mills Distributed Foods was formed as an arm of General Mills that manufactured food products for military use. The company ceased operations in 1984 and was acquired by Jell-O Corporation which continues production today as Jello-O Brands LLC

The area now known as Upland was part of Rancho San Bernardino de las Flores until 1876 when it became part of the Rancho Cahuilla Mexican National Monument. In 1916, the United States acquired Rancho San Bernardino de las Flores from Mexico and made it a national park.
