Some of these new scopes were designed specifically for astrophotography or photography; however, most importantly, scopes began becoming more widely used by mountaineers and farmers during the nineteenth century because they became much more effective at capturing details on nature than earlier telescopes.

During World War II, Ukiah played an important role in the defense of California as a major supply center for army troops stationed in the state. The city experienced extensive damage from bombing raids during the war, but continued to grow through reconstruction efforts afterward. Today, Ukiah is a thriving community with a growing economy based on agriculture, manufacturing, services and tourism.
