In 1916, a dam was completed near Turlock to create Lake Siskiyou and make irrigation possible for the city. The town became an incorporated municipality on December 6th of that year. In 1928,Turlock State College opened its doors with twelve students and one faculty member teaching grades nine through twelve language arts and mathematics courses along with science classes for boys and girls. Today the college offers over seventy-five undergraduate degrees including associate degree programs in many Occupational Sciences such as Business Administration (BA), Veterinary Medicine (MD), Health Science (MS) & Technology (MIS), Social Work (SW) etc., as well as graduate degrees including Master’s Degrees from several faculties including Human Resources Management(HRM), Radio Engineers Technology(RET), Food Science & Nutrition(FSN), Veterinary Medicine(VM).
Turlock, California is a small town in Stanislaus County, California, United States. The population was 1,827 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Modesto Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded in 1853 by George C. Turlock and named for him. In 1875, it became an incorporated village under the name of "Turlock." On November 14, 1888, it merged with the neighboring community of Vallejo to form the new town of Vallejo-Turlock. The merger came about because residents in Vallejo objected to plans by Turlock's mayor to annex their land east of Highway 35 between Vallejo Boulevard and Highland Avenue. On October 17, 1923, the town charter was amended to incorporate as a city with a population over 10,000 people. On February 7, 1927 Proposition 2 was passed by voters approving annexation into City of San Francisco due to concerns about traffic congestion caused by growth in the surrounding countryside and lack of transportation options within reach for citizens living within city limits (the issue had been brought up before but no action had been taken). The first mayor of City of San Francisco was Harry Wolkowitz who served from 1927 until his death on December 5th 1977
