Tulare, California is a small town in Kern County, California. The population was 5,752 at the 2010 census. Tulare is located in the southern portion of Kern County and south of Bakersfield. It has a predominantly Anglo-Saxon population with some Latinos and Native Americans. The land that would become Tulare was first settled by the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway in 1881. The railroad extended from Chico to San Bernardino and then continued on to Tulare. By 1886, there were over 100 people living in what became Tulare Township. The first school was built in 1887 and opened for grades One through Twelve. In 1896, a post office was established at Tulare and mail service began operation that year. In 1908, the name of the townwas changed from Atchison to Tulare after John Muhlenberg (1851-1938), an American businessman who donated land for the town boundary between Kern and Fresno Counties. On July 15, 1958, during the presidency of Dwight D Eisenhower (1882-1967), US Highway 66 was commissioned as part of his Interstate System Project which improved road transportation within America's heartland regions while providing jobs for local citizens throughout their entire length Tulare became one of just four communities across America given I-680 access from east to west when it opened on November 3rd 1961 as an expressway connecting Bakersfield with Stockton via Los Angeles In 2000 a new community called Northstar Village was developed adjacent to I-680 near Exit 173A about 1 mile north of where it intersects State Route 95 Business The village had an initial population numbering 2,000 but later dwindled due to lack of development funding along with other problems with I-680 access & growth elsewhere in Kern County

With these developments came new businesses and families that helped make Tulare one of California's most significant towns during its early days. The population grew rapidly during this time as newcomers influx into the area brought their skills and resources with them. Throughout its history, tulare has been economically important due to its location within easy reach of major markets such as San Francisco Bay Area and Sacramento City International Airport. Cotton farming played a key role throughout much of tulare's history; however, production ceased on many farms during the Great Depression because of lack of available financial assistance from government programs. However, through hard work and perseverance over many years, some farmers have been able to sustain their operations while still maintaining their own personal income levels despite tough times – something which can be highly commendable when considering that agriculture is oneofAmerica's most challenging industries. Today, tulare remains an important community with thriving economy thanks to its location within easy access to major metropolitan areas throughout Northern California as well as other parts of Southern California including Los Angeles County
In 1836, the Mexican government granted land to United States citizens for Rancho Tuolumne. The ranch was named in honor of General Mariano Vallejo, who had been a general in the Mexican army and was then living in California. The land ran from modern-day Tulare County all the way down to San Bernardino County. In 1849, Californians voted on whether they wanted to become a state or not. They decided to become a state and were given territory east of the Sierra Nevada mountains including Tulare and Kern counties. The area that is now Tulare County was first settled by Native Americans and Missionaries in the 1840s. By 1850, most of what is now Tulare County had been surveyed and platted as part of sections 10A, 12A and 16A of Rancho San Joaquin del Sacramento National Park which became available for purchase in 1852.
