Some of the earliest gun shops in Tracy were located around the corner from each other on Second Street. In 1892, John Fenton opened his first gun shop in Tracy and began selling Firearms to individuals and businesses. He also manufactured his own guns at his shop. By 1916, there were three active gun stores in Tracy: Fenton’s Gun Shop on Second Street, Grotto’s Pistol Emporium on Third Street, and Pat’s Gunsmithing on Fourth Street. These four stores served as one center for all aspects of ammunition sales for local customers throughout western California during this time period. In 1934, longtime resident George Witherspoon opened his own shooting range in downtown Tracy which became known as “The Range at Tracy Place” due to its location within walking distance of most homes in town at that time. This was an important venue for local hunting enthusiasts who would use The Range to purchase rifles and shotguns not only for personal use but also for shoots hosted by various organizations such as the NRA (National Rifle Association). The Range continued to be used until it was closed down by the city government in 1978 after numerous complaints from residents about potential noise issues caused by shooters practicing their marksmanship skills outside their homes at night! During World War II, many people living near Tracy worked within the munitions industry which required them to possess firearms for self-defense purposes! Many residents acquired handguns from friends or family members who worked within this industry or bought them outright from manufacturers themselves during this time period! As laws changed during World War II regarding handgun ownership (specifically through new regulations put into place during prohibition), some citizens decided they no longer wanted their handguns registered with the government so they started selling these firearms privately without having to worry about regulation! This practice lasted until 1967 when registration requirements were reinstated following passage of Proposition 64!. Today, many people still buy pistols privately without ever needing to register them with authorities – something that is regulated only under state law! Throughout its history as a town full of gunfire lovers®, Tracy has beenPlotting its way onto national headlines every year thanks largely to its contingent population of avid shooters! In 2007 however*, when semiautomatic assault weapons suddenly began being imported into America via China*, local media outlets erupted into an uproar(* noteworthy actions taken against importation including law enforcement shutting down Chinese dealers responsible for supplying these weapons) because many believed that these weapons constituted a major threat both nationally* and locally* (* events leading up to this particular outcry can be found HERE*). After much public pressure from Mayor Dan Burton*, City Councilwoman Tracey Wilkinson*, State Senator Ricardo Lara*, Sacramento County Sheriff Lee Baca*, etc., politicians finally enacted legislation banning importation/sale/transferring semiautomatic assault weapons***.* This ban*** was effective beginning July 1st 2006*. Tracy is a small town in the Central Valley of California. It is known for its agricultural production, and its population was 9,724 as of 2010. The ZIP Code for Tracy is 95658. Tracy is situated in Stanislaus County, which includes the City of Tracy and much of the rural areas to the south and east. The name “Tracy” has been mentioned in various forms since the 17th century. In 1851, James Tracy settled there with his family from New York on land purchased from José Murillo by Captain George Hearn. At that time, it was an agricultural village containing about 25 residents. A post office was established at Tracy in 1857, and held until 1911 when it was moved to Salinas. The first store built in Tracy occurred around 1870 by John Hildebrandt who operated a grocery store at 5 Main Street. By 1880, stores had appeared at 12-, 14- and 16-block distances from each other on what are now First Avenue northward to Third Street eastward (now part of I-5). In 1907 Eberhard Bauer opened a general store at 15 Sutter Road northeast of town center which became one of the most important businesses in town during that era. This Store continued operation into recent years until moving out across I-5 just before Christmas 2009 after being closed for more than 40 years! In 1928 Harry Weems opened his grocery store located on Second Street between Broadway and Market Streets which became one of the largest grocery stores open in these parts until it closed down in 2002 following bankruptcy proceedings Finally within our own community we have our very own stoplight located at Fourth Street near Ninth Avenue main artery) making us not only one stoplight away from all major cities but also our very own central business district!

Tracy, California is a small town in Kern County, California. It was founded by Captain James Tracy in 1887 as the town of Tracyville. Today, Tracy has a population of about 2,500 people and is located on the eastern edge of Kern County. The townsite was named for Captain James Tracy because he explored the area before coming to Kern County in 1887. The first post office at Tracyville was opened on November 6, 1888. The community name honor Captian James Tracy who discovered and named this location after himself. In 1898, when it became part of the newly formed Kern County, Tracyville incorporated as a village under the name of "Tracy". On October 15, 1907, the name change to "Tracy" due to objections from other nearby communities which had already adopted similar names (e.g., East Bloomfield). In 1924-1925 Captain James Atherton established what is now known as Atherton Hall (now called Tracey General Store), which served as an interim courthouse until a permanent courthouse could be built. On March 10, 1929 Judge Augustus Ewing arrived from Auburn and assumed duties as Chief Justice of Santa Clara County; however he did not stay long enough to take possession of his new courthouse so it burned down on April 17th that year before he could get it into use. Commodore John Denny relieved Denny from command at Pearl Harbor on December 7th and appointed Harry S. Truman President effective December 20th so duty moved to Washington D C where Truman had been inaugurated two days earlier on January 4th with Richard Nixon succeeding him February 9th (See Timeline: National Historical Day Events). On July 14th 1943 during World War II USS "USS Constitution" bombed Japanese shipping off Point Conception near San Francisco Bay Area inOperation ["Enduring Freedom"] TRACY bombarding airfields leading up shoreline operations against Japanese forces engaged in fighter bombing raids over our country's coast From 1945 until 1949 all public education stopped at 8 am sharp for 1 hour only for military purposes At that time KERN COUNTY WIDE GATHERING took place at HILLTOP PALACE with over 50 OVERSEAS NATIONS PRESENT INCLUDING JAPANESE MILITARY
