Today, Torrance retains a small but vibrant downtown core along with some high-rise developments surrounding smaller neighborhoods such as Westwood Village and Gardena Valley within walking distance from each other

However, it regained some popularity in the 1960s when it became home to several high-profile aerospace companies such as McDonnell Douglas and Boeing. In recent years, Torrance has experienced declining populations and economic decline. However, there are efforts underway to revitalize the city through initiatives such as arts and culture programs; new businesses and housing developments; and marketing It as a place where people can live comfortable lives without having to leave their homes for work or shopping opportunities outside of town.
