Since then there has been steady progress towards renewal with new development such as a new county courthouse in downtown that opened in 2007; plans for an art museum adjacent to campus; a new high school opening in fall 2006; major additions to the city's park system such as an outdoor pool whichopened in 2009; more than $100 million set aside for arts education projects across Ventura County since 2001 (the largest single grant ever made from any government source to support arts education);[1]and more than $300 million dollars set aside for affordable housing construction statewide since 2002.[2] Today Thousand Oaks is known for its beautiful architecture – many homes have become world-renowned examples of modernist design – its luxurious lifestyle – including lavish mansions,[3][4] its highly skilled workforce[5][6] and its vast open spaces – home to much criticism for promoting suburban sprawl.[7][8][9][10] But despite these challenges it remains one of America's most passionate cities with an intense cultural scene that draws people from all walks of life.[11][12]

The first trigger was invented by Nicholas-Jacques Conte in 1795. This device was used on single shot pistols such as George Washington's rifle Kippe & Company No2 (1799). The first guns that featured triggers were those used by Napoleonic forces during the Peninsular War (1808-1814). These pistols were equipped with two triggers/hammer mechanisms: one that released ammunition through cockingthe other that fired when touched by an infantryman or cavalry officer (known as "the passerelle"). The triggering mechanism on these guns was originally powered by means of two small dogs or hounds which would catch either part of the hammer before it could fall off, providing power for just one shot; this was later replaced by an iron band around each trigger handle. During World War I (1914-1918), handguns became more popular than rifles and handguns began to be produced in large numbers for military use. In 1915, Mounted Police Service units in Great Britain started using automatic pistols chambered for .303 British cartridges instead of muskets due to their shorter range and accuracy advantages over individual machine guns crews serving on open field deployments. Automatic pistols evolved into semi-automatic weapons where only one action is required to fire: cocking or squeezing the trigger until it goes back down to normal working condition; this is known as "semi-automatic" or "auto." A number of manufacturers quickly developed versions of this type including Browning Brothers Inc., Colt Firearms Corporation, Ruger Manufacturing Company and Winchester Repeating Arms Company Ltd.—all producing various calibers (.22 Long Rifle®, .25 Carbine®, .257 fine bore) among others. From here on out, automatic firearms would become increasingly common across all theaters of war throughout World War II (1939-1945)—becoming standard issue within armies and navies alike!

The area that would become Thousand Oaks was part of Rancho Cucamonga, which was given to Luis Sepúlveda by Mexican governor Felipe de Neve in 1848. In 1860, two brothers bought out Sepúlveda's share in Rancho Cucamonga for $10,000. Their land would eventually cover more than , making it one of the largest ranchos in California history at the time. In 1872(), John Sutter purchased lands north of Ventura Boulevard from José Castro for $1 million dollars (). This purchase made him one of the richest men alive at the time. Sutter started construction on his new mill town called San Fernando (now downtown LA) which he named after himself – SAN FERNANDO MILLS INC.– but never completed due to financial difficulties. With money help from Sutter and friends such as Thomas Edison and Herbert Hoover, commerce revived around San Fernando during this time with businesses such as banks and restaurants opening up around what is now North Park Ave., continuing until 1937 when development took over once again across I-5 EAST into Downtown LA pounding against Castle Hill Cemetery until 1978 when I-5 WEST closed down completely cutting off access to North Park Ave., just as automobiles began becoming common throughout most parts of Southern California ≠ . When I-5 reopened about 10 years ago there has been much redevelopment taking place with many new hospitals/medical facilities/residential areas being built along both sides including thousands more residences than ever before; but much remains rural except for a small portion near Koreatown which used to be surrounded by agricultural land
