In 1907, Japanese American Kanekichi Doi set up camp near present day Thousand Oaks Boulevard and Park Avenue in order to evade military patrols that searched for immigrants during World War I. Doi had been living in Anaheim since 1915 when he was arrested for violating Immigration and Nationality Act regulations governing Japanese Americans living outside Japan. He moved to Thousand Oaks after being paroled from prison at Lompoc Naval Air Station in Californ

Thousand Oaks, California is a city located in southeastern Los Angeles County, California. The population was 77,813 at the 2010 census. It is one of the most affluent cities in Southern California and has been called "The City of Roses" for its many roses production operations. The first people to live in what is now Thousand Oaks were the Tongva people. They were here from 3000 BC to 1800 AD according to some historians. The Tongva were nomadic Indians who roamed around this area before settling down in areas such as Simi Valley and Ojai about 1000 AD. In 1871, two brothers named John Sutter and George Hearn bought land north of Ventura Boulevard for $10 per acre from the Menlo Park Land Company. They named their new commune – San Miguel de Allende – after Mexico's patron saint, St. Miguel de Allende (9th century AD). In 1879, they sold additional land to build a town on a peninsula formed by join where Ventura Boulevard meets the Santa Monica River. The town was called Juan Bautista Aguayo until 1902 when it changed to Thousand Oaks because of objections by then- mayor James Quesada (1854-1925) that "the greater part of our citizens are aliens or second class citizens." Agriculture was the mainstay of the community early on; however, during World War II many thousands of local residents served in military units regardless of their native country or citizenship status because so much Allied munitions manufacturing took place here. After VE Day (1945), when Japan surrendered unconditionally and all Japanese nationals were expelled from America, residents began eagerly petitioning state officials for an official reconciliation gift for their native land which would have included restoration rights to aboriginal ancestors as well as full property ownership under Anglo American rule rather than just restitution measures alone like those offered previously through various treaties with Native Americans including Ohlone . This wish became reality following passage of Proposition 10 (April 3, 1946), also known as "Tonga v CPUE", which granted ranchers grazing rights along portions of SR 120 that lay east and south of downtown while prohibiting development near these areas without prior consent from both groups involved; thus successfully ending over fifty years worth litigation surrounding title thereto dating back to Wagon Wheel Ranch days! Prior annexation into Los Angeles County had occurred via annexation ordinance #527 passed November 8th 1906 pursuant to Article XII section 1(a) Of The Municipal Code!! By virtue thereof all Public Lands herein appertaining thereto are hereby annexed unto said County line thereby effectually terminating any remaining claims thereon....” As mentioned earlier in this paper Thousand Oaks experienced rapid growth beginning with its incorporation into Los Angeles County on November 8th 1906 following annexation ordinance #527 passed pursuant to Article XII section 1(a) Of The Municipal Code!! By virtue thereof all Public Lands herein appertaining thereto are hereby annexed unto said County line thereby effectually terminating any remaining claims thereon...” Thereafter rapid growth ensued with more than 4000 businesses opening up shop within only thirty years making it one of America's fastest growing cities during that time period! Some notable companies that initially set up shop here include Dunder Mifflin Paper Co., Lockheed Martin Aerospace Industries Inc., Ford Motor Company and ChevronTexaco among others…….. Today Thousand Oaks continues thrive thanks largely in part to its renowned roses production operations!!!
