Temple City is an unincorporated community in Kern County, California, United States. It lies on the eastern edge of the Mojave Desert and is located at 34°02′36″N 120°48′39″W. The Temples were a Latter-day Saint congregation that moved from Nauvoo, Illinois in 1847 to what is now Weldon Valley near Needles, California. In 1894 they built a log cabin on a small ranch called "Mormon Gulch" west of present-day Temple City. They named their new settlement after Brigham Young's favorite daughter Emma (1823–1892), whom he had married while she was still living with her mother at Nauvoo. For many years they used this cabin as their main home and it served as their religious center until it burned down in 1951. In 1926, temple ordinances were performed for the first time in what is now southern Nevada when Elder James E Smith attended a First Presidency meeting there; temple members then traveled east to conduct ordinances at Springdale and other nearby temples before returning home for another week of ceremonies on October 17.–20th 1926 which made Temple City one of the few areas outside of Utah where such ordinances could be conducted regularly during that era. Services were also held outdoors each day for nearly two weeks starting Saturday October 12th ending Thursday October 16th across three different sites: Mount Carmel Cemetery north of town on I-15 just south of exit 173A (now known as Commerce Street), Alta Mesa Cemetery east off US101 between exits 178 and 179 (now State Route 66) south near Hoover Dam Boulevard and finally Pahrump South Valley Shopping Center off SR 128 just north of I-15 Exit 242B (I-15 Business Loop). A total attendance estimated at over 2,000 Nephites participated including leaders John Wightman officiating proxy services for Oliver Cowdery (1812–1895) during his illness; Orson Hyde officiating proxy services for Wilford Woodruff during his death; George A Maxwell officiating proxy services for Lorenzo Snow during his funeral sermon; Hyrum Smith acting proxy services for Joseph Fenton while he was out performing mission work Heber Crouch acted as president pro tempore with Lorenzo Snow presiding over all sessions except those chaired by Hyrum Smith absent or engaged elsewhere

Temple City is a city in Riverside County, California, United States. The population was 54,827 at the 2010 census. Temple City is located on the banks of the American River and is adjacent to Jurupa Valley. It was founded by Mormons in 1847 as an agricultural watering stop for their handcarts transporting goods upriver from Sacramento. The Mormon pioneers who founded Temple City were led by Brigham Young and his companions. They arrived in 1847 and soon began to build a small community around what would become known as Nauvoo Landing. In early 1850, they organized a township with the same name but under jurisdiction of nearby Arvin Township. The town's first post office was established in November 1850. In 1851, Temple City incorporated as a municipality with a population of 15 residents. In 1862, LDS leader John Taylor issued a revelation that required all male temple members to come to Utah before they could receive baptism into the LDS Church proper. By 1863, only 7 percent of Templesville's inhabitants remained Mormons while most had migrated to other locations within Riverside County or eastward into Nevada Territory (now part of Arizona). On December 12, 1865, local resident Elijah Hines petitioned the state assembly for incorporation into Riverside County because he felt that many Latter-day Saints were being neglected in Arvin Township where they constituted only about 10 percent of the population (). On January 5, 1866, when county officials convened for their first meeting since incorporation, Hines was unanimously elected mayor (). In 1870–71 Templesville annexed portions of neighboring communities including Sunnyside Heights and Desert View Heights . When Templesville reached its peakpopulation numbering 300+ during World War II it experienced some economic decline due to competition from more populous cities such as Riverside and San Bernardino

In 1892,Temple City became a city with its own charter and was renamed Pasadena. In 1947, Temple City merged with Pasadena to form the current city of Pasadena.
