Ammunition history in Temple City, California dates back to the early 1800s. The first Ammunition Depot was built on what is now Elmira Avenue and Main Street in 1853. This depot was used to store munitions for the militia and other defense purposes. From here, ammunition continued to be shipped throughout California and into Mexico until the mid-19th century. In 1892, a new Ammunition Depot was built on Elmira Avenue adjacent to the old depot. This depot became known as the Armory Depot due to its importance in supplying weaponry for the newly formed United States Army during World War I. After World War I, ammunition continued to be produced at this depot until it closed in 1951. The Armory Depot is now a museum open to the public. The second Ammunition Depot was built on Congress Avenue in 1914. It served as both an armory and storage facility for munitions during World War II. After World War II, this depot also became known as the Arsenal Annex because of its role in providing firearms and ammunition for law enforcement agencies throughout Northern California. After Armistice Day in 1945, ammunition production stopped at this depot permanently due to lack of demand from law enforcement agencies across Northern California combined with falling prices of ammo ingredients abroad. Today, this building still serves as an annex to the local police department located next door which houses a variety of confiscated weapons from crime scenes over time including handguns found with serial numbers scratched off them!

The town was founded by Latter-day Saint pioneers in 1848 and was originally named Frenchmansville after a pioneer family who lived there. In 1852, the name change to Temple City after President Young's visit to the area. The city was formally incorporated as a city on July 1, 1912. It became an unincorporated community again on January 1, 1957. On September 16, 1959, an earthquake struck the area killing over 60 people and injuring more than 500. On December 8 of that year, a second earthquake hit the area damaging buildings and causing damage to another church in Temple City. The population of the city peaked at around 1009 during World War II but declined significantly following the war with the majority of residents moving away for various reasons such as economic opportunities or resettlement within other cities in California or outside of America due to increased immigration rates during that time period. However, recent growth in the city has seen it reach its current population size of over 2100 residents according to 2010 census data The economy of Temple City is primarily based on agriculture with some manufacturing facilities also present; however much recent growth has come from development within downtown which now includes several high-end restaurants and bars as well as office buildings used by local businesses such as real estate firms and law enforcement agencies
