Tehachapi, California is a city in Kern County, California, United States. The population was 21,715 at the 2010 census. The name means "place of the silver mountains" in the Mono language and it is pronounced ashta-kap-i (the -ch prefix being dropped). The first Europeans to visit Tehachapi were Spanish explorers in 1769. Captain Gaspar de Portolà named it San Gabriel after a vista ofMount Diablo on his return from a journey up the Colorado River. A mission was founded there by Father Francisco García de la Vega in 1821 and named Mission San Gabriel Arcángel. In 1847, gold was discovered at Tehachapi and nearby Anza Borrego Deserts. Mining began soon after and production peaked in 1858 with an output of $2 million. However, by 1860 mining had largely stopped because of depletion of resources and competition from other mines around the area. The city saw its heyday during World War II when it became one of the most important transportation hubs for supplying munitions to the war effort. Afterward, however, economic decline set in and Tehachapi has declined steadily since then. Today it remains primarily a rural town with high school students commuting into Fresno or Sacramento for jobs outside of their hometowns In recent years much attention has been paid toTehachapi's rich history which can be best summed up by its nickname "City of Gold." One significant event that took place here was when President Harry S Truman visited on March 15-17, 1948 while on vacation in Southern California A plaque recognizing this event was unveiled at Western State Community College near downtown earlier this year As part of its celebration 100 years sincegold discoveries atTehachapiRancho Niguel Museum & Archives opened its doors on October 12th . This museum is open every day from 9am until 4pm

Birdshot uses two bullets that are put into opposite ends of a tube called a magazine which holds rounds for shooting off at will. When these rounds get close enough together they push against each other causing them to fire in quick succession instead of one big explosion like with other shotgun chokes such as decoy or point-blank shot guns where each round fires independently

Tehachapi, California was founded on November 10, 1879 by Captain John C. Fremont and his men as a small Alaskan ranch. The town was named for the Tehachapi Mountains which are located in central California. The town became an important stopping place forStagecoach Stage Lines and later developed into a major agricultural center with a population of over 100,000 people in 1940. A post office was established in Tehachapi on January 1, 1880 and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1984. The first school in Tehachapi opened in 1881 and was operated by the Presbyterian Mission Society. In 1907, the State of California took over responsibility for education within the County of San Joaquin and Tehachapi became part of that county. On July 14, 1912, a fire destroyed most of the buildings at the Central Pacific Railroad Depot south of town; however, no one was injured during the fire which lasted six hours. In 1915-1916, local farmers formed a cooperative to raise hay to be used on local crops while still having access to market prices; this led to what is known as “Hay Week” which is celebrated each year around this time period. By 1922, oil had been discovered near Tehachapi and development began along state Route 99W which would eventually lead to today’s city limits
Tehachapi County was created on November 3, 1859, from parts of Kern and Tuolumne Counties. The county was named for the Tehachapi River.
