Susanville is a small town in California located on the edge of the Mojave Desert. The population was 3,591 at the 2010 census. It is part of Mono County and is about 26 miles northeast of Reno. The townsite remained an important commercial center until the early 1960s when it was abandoned due to its harsh climate and lack of water resources.
