This effort led eventually to construction of what is now called downtown Susanville The Great Depression hit hard on American towns during World War II; however, due to strong economic growth since then throughout California’s Central Valley economy through new industrialization and farming techniques coming from inland cities such as Fresno County–Susanville experienced relatively little damage or destruction from warfare- although many residents lost their jobs when war production ended After World War II ended there continued rapid growth thanks largely to Interstate 5 with its access across Stanislaus County (and easy travel for businesses) which made commuting into Silicon Valley much easier for those working hereabouts; this brought about even more job opportunities for locals including most notably physicians who moved back into town because Silicon Valley had become increasingly expensive but also greatly expanded medical research opportunities After 50 years of steady suburban growth—despite some high-profile scares such as fires that burned down entire neighborhoods along I-5 south between San Jose/ Sunnyvale and Pasadena/ El Monte – Surrounding communities have begun struggling with crime rates rising rapidly while school districts are unable or unwilling (or unable economically)to provide appropriate social services; all too often these problems lead to physical confrontations between communities whereupon gangs take up arms against each other
