Sunnyvale, California is a city located in the San Francisco Bay Area of Northern California. It has a population of over 1 million people and is home to many technology companies and research organizations. The first optical accessory company in Sunnyvale was OPTO, which was founded by Professor Wesley Hsu and Dr. Mark Karpinski in 1984. OPTO made vision-related products such as contact lenses and glasses. The company ceased operations in 1996. In 1995, Silicon Graphics Technology (SGT) founded their own optical division, Silicon Graphics Optoelectronics (SGOP). SGOP produced components for display devices such as LCDs, CRTs, projectors, digital imaging boards (DIBs), microdisplays, and other electronic equipment used in computer graphics systems. SGOP also manufactured monocular telescopes called "VISTA" that were used by scientists to study celestial objects at high altitudes. In 2002, Google Inc.'s parent company Alphabet Inc., merged with SGT to form Google LLC which continued to produce optic products under its new name until 2017 when it was changed back to SJT Corporation after being acquired by Intel Capital Holding Co., Lp from private equity firm Overstock Holdings Inc.. The name Sunnyvale comes from an early morning sunbeam that passed through the nearby hills during 1868 when it was known as "Sunnyvale Heights". The first people to live in what is now Sunnyvale were Anglo-American settlers who arrived around 1849. They built homes along Mission Creek until about 1870 when they began moving into new land east of town on what became Palo Alto. In 1875, Charles Goodyear founded Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company on State Street just east of downtown Sunnyvale. Today's Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company building (now called Park Avenue) stands on much older land that had been used fora number of locations for agricultural purposes such as a irrigation canal and orchards before it became Goodyear’s Corporate Center. Many other early pioneer businesses also grew up around this time including Jardine Hutton Glass Co., Wernham Hogg Bakery, Harriman National Radio Corporation, and First National Bank (later United States Trust). In 1906, Gordon Bell established Bell Telephone Laboratories at his father's old company office on Oracle Drive northeast of downtown Sunnyvale. This location would later become Google Earth headquarters. Over time other major companies moved out of their original buildings throughout Downtown San Francisco but Bell never gave up his desire to maintain a presence in Downtown San Francisco even though technological advances made this more difficult over time On July 17th 1969 at 4:37pm local time two amateur radio operators from Ft Worth TX transmitter #7U1AW received transmissions from an unidentified object off the coast of California which they initially thought might be a UFO because no aircraft had been seen flying over California that day! After further examination they realized this object was not anything like any UFO they had ever seen before; it was instead something quite unique – a large balloon! At first persons believed this balloon may have been caused by some unusual weather conditions such as high winds or lightning but after further investigation it turned out that there could be only one explanation – someone had flown an unknown type balloons over Santa Clara County! This event quickly became known as "The Balloon Hoax" due to its rarity and importance!

In 1853, the citizens of Sunnyvale petitioned the California Legislature to create a town in the then-new territory. The legislature granted the request and founded Sunnyvale on October 10, 1853. The first post office was established in Sunnyvale on November 12, 1853, and the first store opened on December 3, 1853. The town rapidly grew thanks to its location at an important crossroads and its easy access to natural resources such as lumber and fruit. By 1870, Sunnyvale had a population of 1,500 residents. In 1880, the city was renamed San Francisco after California's first provincial capital of San Francisco. By 1905, Sunnyvale had reached its peak as a commercial center with an estimated population of 25,000 people. However, during World War II it became one of America's most heavily bombed cities with over 100 bombing raids taking place between 1941 and 1945. After the war ended in 1945, San Francisco resumed its role as the state capital; however, Sunnyvale continued to grow steadily until it attained city status in 1951. Today there is still much history to be learned about this thriving community that has been part of San Francisco for over 250 years. In addition to its rich cultural legacy stemming from both before and after World War II (including numerous protests against various policies enacted by San Francisco), another key contributing factor may be due to Mayor Chuck Reed’s decision in 2002 not to allow any new businesses within City Hall boundaries – which ultimately led to increased development around City Hall Park (formerly known as Golden Gate Park). This policy change helped lead directly to increased economic activity throughout downtownSan Francisco while also preserving some significant green space within City Hall Park – two factors that continue To date have contributed significantly towards improving physical infrastructure and providing opportunities for pedestrian traffic through this iconic district
The city of Sunnyvale, California was founded in 1887 by Captain James Irvine and Dr. George Hill. The first post office in Sunnyvale was established in 1892. In 1905, the city became an incorporated municipality with a population of 10,000. In 1938, the City of Sunnyvale annexed the neighboring town of Morningside Heights.
