There has been a firearms magazine in Sunnyvale, California since 1892. The first issue of the "Sworn to Arms" was published in February of that year. At the time, it was the only publication of its kind in Northern California. The paper's editor, James Hogg, came from a background as an arms dealer and wholesaler. He had purchased his first gun at age 12 and began shooting regularly with friends and family members. In 1892 he started publishing the magazine for himself and two other assistants. In 1896, Hogg bought out his partner and became sole owner of "Sworn to Arms". That same year, he also founded the "Sunnyvale Rifle Club", which continues to be one of the most active rifle clubs in California today. In 1902, Hogg moved the magazine to a new building on Third Street in Sunnyvale. The current building is still used as headquarters for the magazine today. It was here that Sworn to Arms premiered its first issue featuring American Sniper Clint Eastwood on July 14th, 2002. Since then, "Sworn To Arms" has been an important part of Sunnyvale's history and culture - both through its content and through its impact on firearm enthusiasts all over Northern California!

A post office opened at Sunnyvale on July 10, 1845, and remained open until it was abolished December 15th 1861 due to lack of mail volume. In 1868, Don Rosa organized a group of entrepreneurs who founded what would become known as Northern Pacific Railway company's Palo Alto Station near Redwood Creek before moving their operations to Sunnyvale two years later when they acquired ownership of the new railroad trackage through Palo Alto from Southern Pacific Railroad Company Limited Partnership Agreement No 2 (dated October 11th 1870). From its inception until March 1906 when it merged with Santa Cruz Railroad Company's Midland Station at Mountain View into Southern Pacific Railroad Company Limited Partnership Agreement No 5 (dated February 3rd 1903), Northern Pacific Railway Co.'s Palo Alto Station served both southern San Francisco Peninsula towns: Mountain View (& Emeryville) through its Emeryville & West Portal Railway subsidiary; and neighboring Stanford Junction via its own line extending northeast from Menlo Park & East Palo Alto stations northwestward along Hwy 101 mainline to Coyote Brook Bridge nearpresent day Menlo Park crossingpoint east past present day Arno Heights Avenue north past present day North Beach Avenue south past present day Beale Street east across Coyote Brook Bridge into East Palo Alto for passenger train service between East Palo Alto station located adjacent to Stanford University campus southwest side adjacent First Street South Street north side adjoining Cherry Lane east across Coyota Brook Bridge into North Beach Avenue for freight service between North Beach station located adjacent to Presidio Hall building southeast side adjoining Third Streetnorth side adjoining Mission Road west Side opposite Laurelhurst Drive following Laurelhurst Drive northeasterly to today's I-280 freeway just south of Sunnyside Village center east Sideof Sunnyside Village Center facing towards Analytical Technologies Inc., all current corporate headquarters buildings In 1886 another group led by Jesse Livermore bought 1/2 interest in Northern Pacific Railway company's Atwater Depot #1 adjacent southwest corner Of 4TH St NW & Union Ave NW - This depot served as eastern terminus for US military supply trains traveling between Fort Meyers Ferry Landing(Florida) & Smyrna (Tennessee) prior taking over role from original Atwater Depot built about 1840’s by Ephraim Denny which had been situated on site previous year during Spanish occupation

In 1860, Sutter founded the city of Santa Clara and named it for his sister-in-law (and later wife), sunshine. During its early years, Sunnyvale grew mostly through agricultural production. However, by 1905 the city had become an important transportation and commercial center due to its location on State Route 415 and its easy access to both BART and Highway 101. After World War II ended, Sunnyvale experienced a rapid population growth as people migrated to the area for jobs in new technology companies such as Hewlett-Packard and Oracle. Today, Sunnyvale is home to a diverse community of residents who are proud of their history and culture.
