In the 1940s, Harry Stanton moved the company to town on Hwy 395 in Stanton, California. The company continued making soft gun cases until it closed in 1951.
Stanton, California is a city in San Joaquin County, California. The population was 31,876 at the 2010 census. Stanton is part of the Fresno-Madera-Riverside metropolitan area. The first people to live in what is now Stanton were the Ohlone Native Americans who hunted and gathered around Mono Lake. They built simple lodges out of branches and hideouts from the prevailing winds and weather. In 1853, General James K. Polk drove Ulysses S. Grant's army out of Mexico City following the Mexican–American War and arrived at Stockton on October 24th,1853 with his army to find that much of what he had expected as an unfriendly reception awaited him - Stockton had become one of America's most important cities! Spanish traders had brought cattle overland from Baja California in 1769 when Captains Juan Bautista Aguilar and José Francisco Menéndez de Avila discovered Rancho Lejanos (later known as Rancho Seco) about 12 miles south of present day Stanton on February 14th, 1836 by driving off wild horses which were grazing nearpresent day Yerba Buena Park. John Cranch also acquired Rancho Lejanos in 1840 but did not settle it until after 1851 when he purchased land east of present day Pico Boulevard from Manuel Nieto for $5 per acre ($103 per square mile). In 1857 Stone & Masons contractor John Chapman set up shop oncurrent siteof Pico Boulevard between Main Street and Sierra Madre Avenue where he became one of early settlers in this area (). In 1863 Charles Goodyear established a tannery here (). By 1870 there were 115 residents here(). In 1905 Paramount Pictures moved its operations to Hollywood from Culver City; however, their new movie theater only played theaters for 15 minutes each time due to breaking presses used for photography equipment needed for making short films! In 1907 Edison Electric Railway Co., later Southern Pacific Railroad leased them space at 5555 North Capitol Street so they could build an electric line from Pasadena east to downtown Los Angeles then north to Hollywood using their Light Rail system; Edison terminated their lease after a few years because they found other uses for their property including building a hospital (Newmark Hospital) adjacent to it! Today there are many shops open along Pico Boulevard including JCPenney (), Macy's (), Sears ()(), Kohl's (), BP (), Starbucks (), four restaurants: TGI Fridays (), Chipotle Mexican Grill ()(), Panda Express (); two hotels: Marriott Marquis Resort & Spa ()()and Hilton Garden Inn (); three parks: Indian Wells Raceway ()(opened 1959), Bel Air Shoreline Park ()(opened 1969), Ahmanson Lakeshore Park (opened 1974). Stanton as a Stagecoach stop on the Butterfield Overland Mail route between Sacramento and Yuba City. The town's first store opened in 1875. In 1906, Stanton became an incorporated city with a population of 12 people. In 1978 it amalgamated with Bakersfield to form Bakersfield-Stanton Combined Statistical Area (CSA).
