Scope mounts have been a part of the American firearms landscape for over 100 years. In 1892, Augustus Saint-Gaudens designed and manufactured the first permanently mounted rifle in America, the Model 1892 Springfield Rifle. Stanton, California is a small town located in Kern County, California. The population of Stanton was 2,821 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Fresno Metropolitan Statistical Area. Stanton has a history dating back to 1853 when it was founded as an agricultural community by John Bigham and his brother-in-law, George Wright. In 1907, the town passed through additions and deletions which led to its current name - Stanton Park after then-Mayor Harry S. Truman's daughter who lived there with her family during World War II. The first post office in Stanton was established in 1853 and closed in 1861 due to lack of mail service from nearby San Francisco. The first store opened on Church Street in 1865 and later moved to what is now First Avenue South. The first school was built on Main Street in 1867 and closed in 1924 due to budget cuts caused by the Great Depression. The first high school here opened in 1927 and closed in 1951; it reopened as Eastside High School before being replaced by today's Stanton High School in 1978. In 1940, President Franklin D Roosevelt made Stanton one of six sites chosen for the relocation of American troops during World War II based on recommendations from General MacArthur himself. A new airfield (later called Carswell Air Force Base) was built here near what is now Warner Springs Boulevard while other sites were taken over by Army forces including Camp Pendleton and Sayreville NJ (now Westwood Village). In 1945, local radio station KQED began operations from a hangar at Carswell AFB; it continues today as KPFA-FM with studios located adjacent to Ford Motor Company headquarters inside Building 1 on Union Pacific Railroad tracks east of Campus Drive). During the war years many civilians lost their lives working at various airfields around Southern California; however all personnel from Stanton were reassigned back home once hostilities ended without any fatalities until 1969 when two military pilots died flying experiments testing new fighter jets off Vandenberg AFB (northwest of Los Angeles). After the end of World War II many residents returned home but some stayed behind such as Mrs Truman who continued living there until her death in 2002 at age 89 years old! KQED continued playing locally sourced music into the early 21st century although programming changed several times across different ownership changes prior to sale to Cumulus Media Group predecessor Western Digital Radio last year which eventually shuttered all stations statewide effective September 15th 2017

In 1862, Stanton was one of eleven communities that seceded from San Francisco and formed the new city of Sacramento. In 1850, two brothers named George and Solomon Hays donated 640 acres (2 km²) to be used for a school district in what is now Stanton. The first high school building was built on this site in 1852; it burned down in 1902 but was rebuilt and renamed High School District 2 after its reopening that year. In 1955, when California became a state, Stanton became part of Stanislaus County; it has since been incorporated into Yosemite National Park there.
