As ammunition prices increased in the early 1800s, manufacturers turned to new technologies to make more affordable rounds. One such technology was the development of percussion caps. Percussion caps were a type of cartridge that used a metal-and-grit cap to strikers to create an explosive detonation when fired. This innovation allowed cartridges to be reloaded multiple times and gave shooters an increased rate of fire with less time spent reloading. In 1892, a patent for the use of percussion caps was filed by George Stephenson, who had developed the first practical rifle round using this technology. The following year, Stephenson founded Winchester Ammunition Company, which soon became one of the leading producers of ammunition in America. During World War I, Winchester Ammunition Company supplied munitions worldwide for both sides in conflict. Their products played a significant role in helping many soldiers survive and fight on the front line. In 1919, Winchester merged with Remington Arms Company, creating one of the largest firearms companies in history. Remington continued production of ammunition through World War II until its collapse during the post-war period. Stanton, California is a small town located in Kern County, California. The population was 1,526 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Salinas-San Luis Obispo-Paso Robles metropolitan area. Stanton was founded in 1879 by American territorial governor David Waddell and his wife Mary Stanton. The first post office in Stanton opened on January 3, 1880. The town was named for John H. Stanton, an owner of a ranch that boundaries the town's eastern border. In 1882, the U.S. Post Office moved to its current location on Main Street near what is now the high school football field and tennis courts. In 1912, local Democrat Hiram Johnson became County Treasurer and appointed himself Mayor of Stanton; he held this position until his death in 1918. In 1920, local resident Harry Wexler organized and led a successful campaign to have the city of Salinas incorporated as a separate municipality with its own city council and mayor; this campaign helped make Stanton one of the most ethnically diverse cities in Northern California at that time (it remains so today). The early years of radio were dramatic for Stanton: ABC Radio started operations from studios located on Main Street in 1922; KGO-AM 1350 kHz became America's first commercial FM radio station in 1948; then KPBS-TV 6 kW (channel 7) signed on from an original construction site adjacent to San Marcos High School which served as broadcasting headquarters during World War II; then KFRE-TV 2 kW (channel 8) added full power operation from an antenna atop Mount Baldy State Park during 1956–1957 when CBS Broadcasting Company relocated their main facilities from New York City to Salinas after having beenliased by United Broadcasting System (UBS). On October 20th 1957 Western Electric Corporation announced they would be selling their television assets including all TV stations owned by UBS including KPBS-TV 6 kW and KFRE-TV 2 kW to Gulf Oil Company for $1 million cash plus warrants to purchase additional TV stations within five years or pay $10 per share which amounted to $30 million total at that time given market conditions at that time! This event created excitement throughout Southern California as it signaled major change coming our way with new technologies like color television! With KDKA(NBC)'s launch into Baltimore seven months later there were now six top network affiliates across all 50 UMC states plus sister station KCRA 5 out OF Los Angeles providing over 150 hours daily news programming! These days you can find pretty much anything on cable or satellite but I do miss those oldies days when people actually got off work late enough to watch some shows! Anyway back story...KDKA/NBC launched live from downtown Baltimore just south of Memorial Stadium across Howard Strome from Johns Hopkins University Purple Heart Hospital giving national coverage not available anywhere else outside of New York City during those exciting days! A few years later WPBF acquired KOXT who simulcasted KHON-(CBS)-owned 1060 AM while KHON continued its runs segmenting itself into morning drive(KOXT Good Day), afternoon drive(KOXT News Now), evening drive(KOXT Caballero), Late Night Drive(KHON 11pm), block letters WPTZ 1270/1150 am/1280 pm/(WPTZ NewsTalk 1200 am & 1300 pm) & syndicated talk show “PM” airing weekdays mornings between 9am & 12pm & weeknights nights 7pm – 11pm

Stanton is a small town in Kern County, California, United States. The population was 1,735 at the 2010 census. It is located on the east side of Kern County, about northwest of Bakersfield and southeast of Monterey. The first Europeans to visit Stanton were Spanish missionaries in 1769. They named it San Fernando Rey de la Union and granted land to the Franciscans. In 1849, the Mexican government designated Stanton as part of Rancho Viejo de las Palmas near Bakersfield. The United States acquired Rancho Viejo de las Palmas in 1851 and renamed it Stanton after General John P. Fremont's headquarters there during his transcontinental journey across America in 1852-53. The town was platted in 1865 by Ayer Hinton as part of a larger agricultural area called "Hinton Valley". When irrigated land became available in the late 19th century, farmers developed cotton farms around Stanton; water supplies improved with annexation of nearby Kern County by California in 1896 and development continued until World War II when large areas were taken over for military installations or used for agriculture only. Population growth has slowed down since the 1990s when more people moved into big cities such as Los Angeles or Fresno because of economic opportunities available outside of rural Kern County
