On December 13th of that year Mayor Gil Cedillo announced that South Pasadena would be being annexed into neighboring Lynwood by 2020; this annexation would add 2 square miles (3 km²) to Lynwood's total land mass making it now one of the most populous cities inLos Angeles County!
