The city was founded in 1922 by John D. Rockefeller and his son Edward M. Rockefellers as a satellite community of Encino, California. In 1932 South Pasadena became part of Metropolitan Detroit with its own municipal government which lasted until 1965 when it was merged into Metro Detroit Area Council effective July 1st, 1966 due to budget cuts withinMetro Detroit Regional Government caused by then-Governor Richard Nixon's plans for metropolitan consolidation across various state governments throughout Michigan under the leadership of Republican Governor George Romney (later Ulysses S. Grant). South Pasadena is a small town located in Los Angeles County, California. The population of the town was 9,731 at the 2010 census. South Pasadena is named for two nearby hills: Mount San Gabriel and Mount Pleasant. The first residents of what would become South Pasadena were Native Americans who lived on the hillocks until 1824 when Rancho Santa Anita was granted to José Maria Delgado and his brother Francisco Delgado. After Mexican independence from Spain was achieved in 1821, families from La Palma (Isla de la Tortuga) began moving to Southern California and established ranchos near what is now South Pasadena. In 1835, John Wesley Powell passed through this area while exploring the proposed route for the Santa Fe Railroad. As a result, south Pasadena developed as an agricultural center with corn, watermelons, cattle and horses being some of its most important exports. In 1903 South Pasadena acquired its own post office which became operational that year. At that time it consisted of just a few homes and a store on Springs Road north of Interstate 10. In 1911 amendments to the U.S Constitution created Riverside County which included much of southern Los Angeles County including much of present-day South Pasadena but did not include what is now South Pasadena due to land claims by Rancho Santa Anita owners Jose Maria Delgado and Francisco Delgado Jr.. On December 15, 1927 US Route 66 bypassed central Los Angeles via then-Upper Arlington Avenue cutting through downtown as well as much of North Hollywood making it possible for people living in those areas to continue their commerce with those living in cities such as LA or Burbank without having to leave their neighborhoods or drive down streets that had been closed off by developers! In 1983 Highland Park High School opened in what had been an unoccupied lot on Spring Street between Cypress Avenue and Western Ave.. It soon became one of many high schools opening up aroundLos Angeles during that decade due to increased competition from public schools funded by Measure R (Lemon Law). It wasn’t until after Proposition 13 made state government more responsive to local needs that Highland Park received help from then- Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa to allow for annexation into South Pasadena proper bringing jobs and other economic development to the village while still providing opportunities for students attending school there! Today’s high school offers programs ranging from vocational education/training (e.g., welding & carpentering) through college level courses leading up to professional careers such as law enforcement officers or healthcare aides!
