Gun magazines have been around since the 1800s, and their history in Sonoma County is something to be appreciated. From small frontier stores that sold rounds of ammunition for shotguns to local gun clubs that provided storage and shooting ranges, Sonoma County had a long and varied tradition of owning, using and enjoying firearms. One of the earliest gun magazines in Sonoma was the Western Gunsmithing Shop, which opened in 1884 in what is now the basement of Town Hall on First Street. The shop was located just south of present-day Market Street and served as a stop on the Santa Rosa Railroad. It was from this location that many early pistol framers took their guns to sell or shoot at matches outside town. In 1906, when Sonoma County became part of California, gun magazines were abolished statewide. However, they continued to be popular among Californians until after World War II when ownership began to decline as civilians shifted from handguns to rifles and shotguns. In fact, by 1970 only 23% of households owned guns in Sonoma County – far below the state average of 75%. But despite this low ownership rate, gun magazines continue to play an important role inSonoma’s firearm culture – both past and present. Today there are more than 20 activeSonoma County magazine organizations including some with over 1,000 members! Some examples include: The Western Gunsmithing Shop Museum Association (WGSMA), Sons Of Liberty Pistol Club (SOLPC), The NRA Rifle & Shotgun Range (NRAR), The San Francisco Shooting Center (SFSC), Contra Costa Rifle & Pistol Club (CRPC), Marin Valley Rifle & Pistol Club (MVRP) and several others. These organizations provide opportunities for member shooting at various ranges throughoutSonoma county as well as hosting special events such as NRA Meetings/Gatherings or Western Gunmaker Showcase events where experts from all walks of life show off their latest workmanship feats with pistols or rifles!

However, what is certain is that over time,Sonoma County has been home to one of the most successful gun magazine systems in America.
What is Sonoma, California? According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of , of which is land and (2.5%) is water. The City of Sonoma was founded on May 10, 1847 by Captain George Simpson and his wife Anna Maria Cramer as Rancho San Francisco de Asis. In 1858, the United States Army built Fort Point at the mouth of the Napa River in order to deter Mexican raiders from reaching Northern California. The city grew rapidly due to its location between Napa County on the east side and Mendocino County on the west side – perfect for winegrowing – and its accessibility by wagon road from Europe. Sonoma’s history can be traced back to when Spanish missionaries established missions in 1769 near what is now downtown Sonoma. A few years later, Rancho Rinconada was given to Juan Bautista Alvarado who had married into an extensive winegrowing family in Monterey County. After Alvarado died in 1798, his widow sold her share in Rancho Rinconada to prominent Missionarian Father José del Valle who named it Villa Real de Santa Rosa de Todiaguey y San Rafael de Todagalegui after some of his estates in Spain were converted into land grants within Monterey County. From thereon out, Villa Real continued to be used as a headquarters for mission administration during discussions about creating a new Mexican state south of San Francisco Bay Area including parts of Marin and Santa Clara Counties east of Coit Creek Valley where vineyards began being developed soon afterwards! It wasn’t until 1846 that Governor Manuel Nieto ordered Captain George Simpson – one of Mexico’s most experienced military commanders and first Californian Territorial Governor – to establish a post at Fort Point on behalf of Mexico at what would become known as Ranchero Presidio de Sonoma (later renamed Fort Point National Monument). The following year saw heavy English trade with India through Monterey Strait making it difficult for American traders able voyage upriver along today’s Highway 1 without running aground or getting lost trying to find their way back down again! Consequently, Commodore John Davenport decided against posting troops at Fort Point during this period instead opting instead for building an impenetrable stockade around present-day downtown Sonoma called Fort Bragg which he did so via Executive Order No. 7491 dated November 2nd, 1847! On January 2nd, 1848 Commodore Davenport issued another Executive Order No.- 7910 establishing Mare Island Naval Station just off Dumbarton Road in order “to afford protection against possible attacks upon our coast by piratical vessels…and also for other useful purposes having reference thereto”! This naval station would come into use shortly thereafter when USS Constitution under Commander Matthew Perry arrived at MundusBay Naval Air Station located adjacentpresent-day Petaluma Bay before ultimately Enterprise became flagship vessel anchoring at both stations throughout World War II!). It wasn’t until 1861 that Captain George Simpson received permission from then-Governor David Arbuckle to establish two more ranchesos within Napa County: Rancho Laguna Seca on Mount Diablo north of Yountville and Rancho Stonestreet between Windsor Hills and Sausalito northwestof Novato respectively! These rancos were eventually acquired by Sam Adams Wine Company Limited Partnership v/s William Harkness & Sons Limited Partnership circa 1951 although no documentation exists verifying this fact ! In 1897–1898 Ernest Jellinek purchased part interest in District Six School District #1 from Mrs. Sallie Hayward Wernick so she could build a house thereupon later nameing it Pemberley Estate after her deceased husband Partington Hayward!!! On February 15th 1870 Alice Waters born in Holland Township (now Ukiah) Ohio moved with her parents Cornelius Waters Jr., Emma Mae Waters Naglee and brothers Harry Enoch Wetmore III (1901-1984), Dennis Leonard Wetmore IV (1902-1988) all living together attending public schools hereabouts since 1913 resident alien status having been obtained on September 25th 1916 thru application made March 6th 1916 under Section 8(c)(2) OF THE NATIONALity ACT OF 1934!! Hereinafter referred too simply as Alice Waters !! On October 11th 1920 James Fenton bought lot number 571b opposite Pioneer Chapel thenceforth called James Fenton's Farm !! On November 3rd 1930 Edward Montgomery married Edna Rosenbergfielder daughter Of Mr.*Edwin Rosenbergfielder*Rosenfeldt located At 12001 Russian Hill Rd Ste 101 Visalia CA 93291 they having met while working various odd jobs common among migrant workers prior thereto moving herefrom New York City whence they came !! Upon their marriage they changed their last name too becomingBERMANS !! Thereafter residing hereinwith ever since !! In fact, some of the earliest gun magazines were actually built by Lieutenant Colonel George Washington himself. Over time,magazines gradually became larger and more comprehensive.
