In 1957, the original high school building burned down and new high school construction began nearby on Cave Creek Road which became home to both schools until 1978 when they were moved to their current site on Waterman Drive near State Route 101. In November 2009, it was announced that Simi Valley would be host to the 2012 Olympic Games should they be awarded by London Organizing Committee due to its location within commuting distance of many Olympic venues around Los Angeles and Southern California including Staples Center and T-Mobile Arena among others
