The tower still stands today and can be seen from many parts of Signal Hill during day or night operations; its height reaches above }; according to current information, it is also one of only two surviving towers from World War II (the other beingstructured like a telephone pole) In 1957–1958 Signal Hill built its own water system using piping supplied by White Sands Water District; this became one of the first instances where communities throughout California began providing their own water systems rather than relying upon local officials who were subject to price control by federal agencies
