Ar15 upper receivers were designed and produced in Sierra Madre, California by three different companies. The first company to produce an ar15 upper receiver was High Point Armory. They began producing the rifles in 1998 and continued until 2003. Their production echoed that of other companies during this time, with high-quality parts and a focus on customer satisfaction. In 2004, Sturm Ruger began producing their own ar15 upper receivers, which helped to Change the Weaponry landscape within the United States. At this time there was an increasing trend of shooters looking for a higher quality rifle when shopping for their next firearm. Sturm Ruger’s brand name had become well-known across America and they were able to sell more rifles than any other company at this point. In 2007 American Outdoor Brands announced that they would be ending their production of ar15 Upper Receivers after over 20 years in business. This left the market without a major producer of these firearms. However, ARMS Manufacturing has since re-established themselves as a major player in the industry with their new line of rifles called The M2 Carbine which uses lower cost components from other manufacturers such as Colt and Glock while still providing top quality products

In 1982, Winchester Firearms Company LLC entered into a partnership with Armscor to produce high-quality AR-15 rifles under license. In 1984, Winchester Corporation merged with Remington Outdoor Co., which also owned Standard Armory Incorporated and had produced conversion kits for other types of firearms including machineguns and pistols. The new company was named Winchester Repeating Arms Company (WRAC). WRAC production shifted from arms & ammunition to rifles & shotguns starting in 1987 and eventually became one of America's leading rifle manufacturers.

The climate here is continental with hot summers and mild winters; however there are some areas with more extreme weather patterns such as Coyote Lake which experiences over 100 inches (250 centimeters) per year in winter!
