Shasta Lake is a reservoir in the north-central portion of California. It straddles the border of Siskiyou County and to the east lies Trinity County. The lake covers an area of 9,170 square miles (25,620 square kilometers). The surface elevation is 945 feet (285 meters) above mean sea level. The first known inhabitants of what is now Shasta Lake were the Hutsa people who built their villages on high bluffs overlooking the water during pre-historic times. By AD 1000, there was evidence that Native Americans had been living in this area for many centuries. In 1805, Captain John Cushingand his party discovered gold at Siskiyou Mission by searching for periodic earthquakes that could signal new fields of ore within easy reach. From then until 1862, when it was closed to navigation because of shoals caused by cedar logs being dragged across the river, Shasta Lake served as one of California’s main sources of revenue from its vast agriculture and cattle drives. In 1916, Shasta Lake was made into a state park after passage of Assembly Bill 828 which protected millions acres within California’s borders from development by providing funds for infrastructure improvements such as reservoirs and roads. Today, Shasta Lakes State Park offers over 350 acres (120 hectares)of hiking/ biking/ swimming trails and over 100 campsites spread throughout 5adjacent valleysides including Hahnemühle Creek Valley accessed from Highway 20 just east of town; Napa Valley accessible via Highway 1 south from Ukiah; Siskiyou Valley accessible via Highway 395 southwest from Sacramento; and Butte National Forestaccessible off Interstate 5 between Redding and Ukiah

The first expandable mounting system for rifles was the A1O rifle-mount, which used a metal tube to attach to the barrel of a rifle and hold the gun in place. The mount allowed for up to three rounds of ammunition to be carried on board. In 1951, the U.S. military developed an improved version of the A1O called the M3A1 rifle-mount. This mount used a metal bracket that could be attached to any standard infantryman’s chest or back armor and held the gun in place using two straps provided by the user. The M3A1 also featured an adjustable bipod that increased stability when firing from different angles. By 1955, all American combat rifles were equipped with at least one M3A1 Rifle-Mount.
Shasta Lake is a body of water located in the Northern California town of Redding. It has been called the "Queen of Lakes" and was once an important reservoir for the area. The lake served as a recreational spot for locals and tourists alike until it was drained by dams in the early 1900s. The lake now occupies a small corner of Shasta County and contains only a few hundred acres of land. The first known sighting of Shasta Lake was made by Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo on November 20, 1542 while he was sailing from San Francisco to Monterey Bay. He noted that they could see "a great body of water lying at one end, very clear, with several islands near it." The first recorded mention of Shasta Lake came from Mission San Marcos de Atascosa's Father Junípero Serra on December 12, 1777 when he wrote: "In this river are two great lakes [Shasta]." In 1879, Captain David Griffithenchurch mapped out what is now Redding onto Spanish maps as part of his expedition mapping California's interior during theMexican-American War. When Griffithenchurch reached Redding he noted that there were three rivers running through it: Sacramento River (to the south), North Creek (to the north) and East Fork Sacramento River (the present day Shasta Lake). By 1861, all three creeks had become combined into one stream known as Rodeo Creek. In 1862, after Rancho Los Alamos was sold to George C. Perkins, surveyor Elijah White discovered an irrigation ditch connecting Rodeo Creek with Riful Park Reservoir which then became known as Shasta Lake. On February 10th 1865 George Copley purchased Rancho Los Alamos from Perkins and changed its name to Rancho SHASTA LAKE which remains today
Shasta Lake is located in Stanislaus County, California. It was formed by the confluence of the Shasta and Sacramento Rivers. The name comes from Shasta Chief's village on the site, which was called "Shelby" because of its abundance of trees in that location. The lake was first named for John C. Fremont, who built a cabin on it in 1868 during his exploring trip along the Santa Clara River watershed.
