The history of Shasta Lake Gun Target is a long and varied one. The target range, located on County Road 1 in the small town of Shasta Lake, California was opened to the public in 1922. It has been said that the original targetRange was built by George W. Brown, Sr., who also operated a sawmill in nearby Redding. The first gunnery school was established at the Range in 1924 and continued operation until 1937 when it moved to Redding. From 1937-1959, it was based out of Redding before returning to Shasta Lake in 1959. In 1961, the Range became an affiliate of Guns & Ammo magazine and continues to serve as such today. The Range is open daily from 9am-4pm with a $5 per person fee which includes unlimited shooting times.

Shasta Lake is a large, body of water located in Northern California. The lake was named by the Spanish for Shasta Mountains, which are located to the east of it. The name comes from the Ohlone people, who inhabited and used the area around Shasta Lake when first discovered it in 1774. The first Europeans to visit Shasta Lake were fur traders working for Captain John Jacob Astor. In 1827, Jedediah Smith explored and mapped the area around Shasta Lake before returning to America in 1829. In 1835, American gold miner James McDowell traveled to the area and discovered significant amounts of gold near present-day Redding. This led to increased interest in the region and led to development of nearby towns such as North Redding and Sutterville. In 1861, General George Custer attacked a Ulysses S Grant column at Fort Donelson on what is now Mount Rushmore National Monument and lost many men including his captain William Taggart. This event helped cause anti-war sentiment in America during that time period and caused California Gov. Goodwin Bancroft (D) to offer financial assistance towards building a military fort at East Coward Creek in order to protect against an attack by Custer's forces. The fort was eventually built but never completed due to concerns over its security or feasibility. As time passed, water levels decreased at Shasta Lake until they occurred again during World War II when authorities placed Restrictions on Fishing due to concern about Japanese submarines operating in the area undetected since 1942. After Japan bombed Pearl Harbor on December 7th 1941, American President Franklin D Roosevelt issued Executive Order 9102 which asking all States within 600 miles of Hawaii not allow fishing until further notice because of potential Allied naval activity near Pearl Harbor – this order effectively closed off most coastal areas along Oregon's coast from commercial fishing opportunities for two months beginning February 1st 1942). After Emperor Hirohito surrendered Japan on September 2nd 1945 following World War II, all restrictions were lifted allowing open fisheries throughout most of Japan except for Hokkaido which still operates some restrictions today as part of its EDB program with local governments involved . Today there are no limits on catches limit either; however catch sizes must beowan 5 lbs or less per person per day while hunting or taking game fish only
