On July 1, 1951 Mayor Harry Hargrave resigned effective July 1 due to health reasons and was succeeded by Mrs. Eileen Dixon who served until her death on November 5, 1996; then Mrs. Norma Wegner who served until her resignation effective December 3rd due to illness; then Mayor Tom Burnett who served until he was elected Governor of California on November 4th 2006 filling the unexpired term of Arnold Schwarzenegger.
