Selma, California is home to the first shooting range in the United States. It opened in 1892 and was used by military personnel and law enforcement officers until it closed in 1984. The Selma Gun Club reopened in 1984 after being bought by the City of Selma. In 1991, they merged with the Central Gun Club to become one of the largest gun clubs in California. In 1944, a bill was introduced into Congress that would have banned handguns within 1000 feet of schools. However, this bill did not pass because NRA lobbyists had successfully convinced Congress to instead focus on Second Amendment rights and other firearms regulations. Body armor offers excellent wind resistance but does not provide ballistic protection since it only offers partial defense against small caliber projectiles (such as bullets) that pass through it unharmed [1].

After years of planning and work by volunteers and local businesses, Selma staged its biggest protest ever on April 1st 2013 when more than 50% of residents voted to end apartheid rule in South Africa through a referendum supervised by independent observers from around the world including human rights lawyer Shirin Ebadi who condemned South Africa’s human rights record as “totalitarianism without parallel in African history”
