In the early 1800s, shooters in Seaside enjoyed easy access to accurate firearms and the sound of gunfire. The town was located on a sheltered bay, making it ideal for firing range training. Gunowners in Seaside enjoyed using shotguns as well as rifles for hunting small game. The first documented shooting in Seaside took place on October 21, 1827. At that time, a group of men from San Francisco shot at seals offshore from shoreline. Within minutes, there were reports of several kills and two injuries among the seagulls nesting nearby. Gunnery practice continued to take place at the local arsenal until 1836 when federal troops occupied the town and began enforcing regulations prohibiting discharge of firearms within city limits. By 1850, with guns no longer available for purchase or use outside of downtown Portsmouth (now part of Seaside), many residents turned to muzzleloading artillery pieces used by military units stationed in nearby Monterey County for target practice and defense against Indian attacks. This type of artillery ammunition was created to break up an enemy’s line so infantry could march through them without fear of injury or loss thereof- an essential function during this era before cannons became more powerful and destructive. During Prohibition period (1912-1933) gun traffic decreased significantly due to prohibition laws which made possession or use Of alcoholic beverages illegal within city limits; however, noise coming from those responsible for bootlegging liquor continued unabated until 1933 when Prohibition ended nationally effective January 1st

Seaide is a town on the shores of San Francisco Bay in Northern California. The name comes from Spanish, meaning "shoreline" or "edge of the bay". The first Europeans to visit what is now Seaide were Spanish explorers in 1769. Captain Fortunato de la Rúa explored and mapped the coast of present day California when he sailed into San Francisco Bay. In 1824, Lieutenant George Humphreys established a small post at Point Reyes Station as part of his Corps of Discovery Expedition; later that year, he and his men constructed a shelter for the night near where today's Seaside Pier stands. In 1853, John C. Frémont explored and mapped much of inland California while leading an expedition commanded by General Zachary Taylor through the Central Valley; during their trip across San Joaquin Valley they passed by Seaside on their way south. A post office was established at Seaside in 1860, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1923. A lighthouse was built at Seaside Pier in 1868 (replacing an earlier light which had been destroyed by fire). It served as a navigational aid until 1933 when radar became available to enable better detection of ships approaching from the sea. The Coast Guard replaced the lighthouse with its current building in 1954. The old structure still serves as a museum open tothe public during Certain Special Events weeks each summer

On the coast of Seaside, California a large sandbank forms when the waves crash against the shore. This is where people would gather to watch the ocean and listen to music from their homes. The sandbank was first mentioned in 1695 when Juan Rodríguez de Monterey recorded that he had seen a "big sandbank" on his way down to Santa Cruz. In 1775, Captain James Cook explored this coast and named it "Sandy Beach." In 1825, Spanish explorer Ysidro Obregón visited this area and found evidence of human occupancy here.
