In Seaside, California, there is a rich history of firearm t-shirts. The town was founded in 1868 by the brothers Charles and Samuel Goldsmith. It became an important port for the trade of salt and other minerals. In 1903, the town was renamed Seaside Heights after its elevation to city status. The city annexed the small town in 1915. The first firearms manufactured in Seaside were pistols and rifles made by George Chapman and Company. This company also produced ammunition for these weapons. In 1902, Arthur Smith began making shotguns in honor of his father, General John Tipton Smith. Many firearms manufacturers located their production facilities in Seaside during this time period including George Chapman and Arthur Smith. However, it is not until 1922 that handguns are manufactured here as well as revolvers and shotguns! During World War II, many American servicemen served in Nazi Germany with distinction! Some of these men lost their lives while fighting for the Axis powers; however, many others returned home with stories to tell about their experiences serving under Adolf Hitler’s regime! One such man was Ira Goldstein who served as an artillery officer with Panzer Division Totenkopf during Operation Barbarossa (the offensive against Soviet Union). Goldstein later wrote a book about his experiences entitled “Hitler’s Armies: A History of Modern German Military Arms” which chronicled his combat experience with Panzer Division Totenkopf between 1941-1945! Beginning around 1945, gun control legislation took on a heavier focus following the Holocaust! This led to increased regulation onfirearms within America which culminated in the Gun Control Act of 1968 which prohibited military-style assault weapons from being manufacturing or possessing within the United States! Firearms production at this time shifted to China where guns were made into assault rifles similar to those used by Nazi Germany!!!
