The town has a history dating back to 1875 when it was founded as Isla Vista by Native Americans. In 1915, the name was changed to Seal Beach after then-Governor James B. Seale made the area a place for white people only. Today, Seal Beach is known for its beautiful beaches and its rich cultural heritage. The first Europeans to visit Seal Beach were sailors from Mexico who sailed up the coast in 1795 looking for new land to colonize. A small community developed around Point Conception where traders bought supplies and sold goods from Native American chiefs and their followers. By 1825, sealers had started coming ashore with sea otters to be traded for goods like cloth and beads that were being produced in Mission Bay and Malibu. In 1865, during the Mexican–American War, General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna decided to blockade Lompoc with his army along US Coast Road 1 near Point Conception because he thought American forces were supporting Mexican rebels against him. The San Francisco Examiner reported on December 8 thatSanta Anna's army discovered "a number of very large seals lying on the sand at intervals over a distance of some hundred yards." They estimated that there might be as many as 20 million seals living in California at that time! Lopez de Santa Anna ordered his troops not to fire on any seals but instead they gathered them up into sacks and took them back inside Mexico where they were auctioned off as pets or displays at military barracks across Mexico City until 1861 when they finally reached Californication under Ulysses S Grant's administration! A few years later (1868), Captain Richard Perry chartered USS Beecher which carried three boats loaded with students from Yale University headed towards points south including Catalina Island before arriving at point Conception on January 5th 1870 just east of what is now Seal Beach (the islands are now part of Harbor City). This event marked an important milestone because it demonstrated that America had opened her ports to international shipping! Captain Perry also landed two vessels full of passengers - one carrying John Davenport who became president act Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain in 1907; another carrying Hilda Heald who became mother Teresa De La Cruz y Ortega in 1916.) Commodore Charles Wainwright disembarked his squadron from HMS Resolution off Point Conception on November 7th 1871 while en route through Catalina Channel – making him first white person ever ashore on mainland California! At this time, seal hunting season was open so ships could stop off at various points along the coast hunting seals while men walked shoreward armed with spears or harpoons! It wasn't until 1875 when Governor James B Seale allowed white people only access to Isla Vista after seeing reports about all these seals being killed by Indians0 although black people did participate early in this process!! Thereafter beginning July 1st thru Labor Day each year residents could come ashore and collect fresh water blanks which would go into local wells/pumps used by farmers/residents since there wasn't much water available offshore!!! Despite some opposition from locals (due partly due to Protect Our Seas public hearing held October 6th 1895) Governor Seale passed legislation allowing whites ONLY entry into Isla Vista during certain months each year starting September 15th 1886!!!! thus continuing America's Opening Of Ports tradition today!!!!! check out our website www .sealbeachgovt .org for more information

However, the firstgunsights were created in 1792 by Nicholas-Jacques Conte and named the “Compass” sights. The Compass sight was a simple mirror-image lens with a small aperture placed at an angle above the right eyehole, allowing users to see targets in direct sunlight while wearing bright clothing or sunglasses. In 1836, John Brownell developed his own design for a gunsight which he called the “Browning Rifle Sight”. This sight consisted of two lenses joined together by a hinge on either side, allowing it to be reversed so that it could be used male or female sighting devices. Thissight became popular among hunters because it allowed them to see their prey from any angle without having to wear glasses or use a magnifying glass. The first true air guns were invented in 1874 by George Stephenson and named the “ Stevens Gun”. The Stevens Gun had three barrels that fired projectiles through rockets into the air. These weapons were so effective that they quickly became popular among farmers and militia groups who needed to kill game at close range without using arrows or bows
