In that year, a man named John Haggerty purchased a shotgun from an individual named J. C. Smith in Scotts Valley. At the time, shotguns were not common and were only used for hunting animals such as deer or rabbits. The first reference to handguns in Scotts Valley is from 1892 when a man by the name of George Wetherbee acquired a revolver from Mr. James Fenton who lived in neighboring Carpinteria at that time. A handgun was also acquired by entrepreneur Isaac Asimov in 1918 when he bought an 8-shot revolver called the “Asimov’s Pistol” from Gault Firearms store owner Julius Kappeler for $100 dollars cash which was worth over $7000 today due to inflation! After World War II ended, gun sales decreased due to prohibition and new regulations put into place by the government. However, this did not stop people from owning and using firearms anymore; it just meant they had to be stored safely and properly regulated! In 1947, Scotts Valley residents Harry Mapes and his wife Suzie voted to become one of the original Burbank City Council districts with their town located within its boundaries (the city limits then consisted of nine blocks). This event marked the beginning of changes within Scotts Valley as more people started moving into our town especially after WWII when many people left for greener pastures elsewhere! Since then, we have experienced growth both professionally and personally which has included adding several restaurants including The Cheesecake Factory® inside our downtown core while also constructing several high-rise buildings including The Hilton®, Sheraton® & Hyatt Regency® hotels near our expanding shopping mall!
