Scotts Valley is a small town in California. It is located about 30 miles south of Los Angeles and about 20 miles north of San Bernardino. The population was 7,604 at the 2010 census. Scotts Valley was founded in 1887 by John Scott and his family from Scotland. The Scott family has been living in Scotts Valley since then. The first post office in Scotts Valley was established in 1888. In 1899, the name of the town was changed to Scotts Valley Village to reflect its growth as a farming community. The village became an incorporated city in 1959. In 1997, it merged with neighboring Simi Hills to form one municipality with a combined population of over 33,000 people. Today, Scotts Valley is a rich agricultural community that produce crops such as grain, vegetables, fruits, and flowers; sheep and horses are also common here. There are several theme parks located within walking distance of the town center including Playland Park which features amusement park rides and attractions for children as well as a waterpark; Bouldershell Beach which offers beach access through waves crashing on shore; and Hidden Canyon Preserve which offers hiking trails through dense forest tubing trails leads visitors down into subterranean canyons

Scotts Valley is located in the Inland Empire of Southern California, and has been inhabited by the Ohlone people for over 10,000 years. The first Europeans to arrive in what is now Scotts Valley were Spanish soldiers who founded San Diego on December 6, 1769. At this time, it was part of Alta California. The area that would become Scotts Valley was first known as Rancho Santa Margarita de las Flores because the owner, Juan Bautista Flores sold acres of land there in 1792. It wasn’t until 1853 that a post office called Scotts Valley was established and mail started being delivered from San Diego to Scotts Valley. In 1854, Captain John Waddell founded an adobe mission at Mission Village which served as his home for about two years before he died in 1855. On October 15th of that year, Major Emory Sibley granted homesteads totaling 4 square miles (10 square kilometers) to Andrew Joicey and James Hutton at Rancho San Vicente de la Paloma y las Flores. This Donation Land Claim Act allowed Californians to claim land they had never seen or claimed through other means such as treaty or purchase. The village began to grow rapidly due to the new settlers and by 1860 there were around 100 people living in town. By 1865, there were 1,500 people living in town with many businesses and a schoolhouse built that same year. When the Union Army marched into Mexico during the American Civil War on April 12th of 1865, most of the townsfolk fled northward but Scotts Valley stayed behind because it was under Mexican rule at the time (it would be regained by America after hostilities ended). Aftermath Japanese Americans interned here during World War II lived within town limits until their release in 1946 when much of these areas were annexed into Quartz Hill Township
