A second munitions plant followed shortly thereafter and still operates today as Westinghouse Electric Corporation's Antelope Valley Ammunition Plant northeast of Santee Proper; it has a workforce of more than 10,000 people today. One school district (the Bishop Arts School District) encompasses all or parts of both towns: Northridge Elementary School located within Northridge proper and Southridge Elementary School located within Southridge Proper; Bishop High School serves grades 9 through 12 throughout both towns while other high schools are scattered throughout Inyo County (e.g., Oroville High School). There are also several private schools in Santee including Chino Hills Academy which offers PreKindergarten through 8th grade as well as 4-year college level classes; Montessori International Schools has two campuses which offer PreKindergarten through 6th grade with additional academic programs available for 3rd-, 4th-, 5th-, 6th-, 7th-grade students; Holy Cross Catholic Church offers pre-school and elementary services including morning Masses for children up to 3 years old along with after-school care/ Klassen Center offers gym activities/ arts & crafts opportunities for pre-schoolers/elementary school students

Santee is a small town in Contra Costa County, California, United States. The population was 1,821 at the 2010 census. It is part of the San Francisco Bay Area. The first Santee post office was established on December 5, 1847. The name of the town originates from an Indian word meaning "settlement." In 1851, the Northern Pacific Railroad reached Santee and began to offer passenger service to the town. The first store in Santee was built by Wm. Hogue and his brother-in-law Hiram Smith on Main Street in 1857. A schoolhouse also been built that year for $5 per month by Mrs. Noyes and Drs. Pfeiffer and Schoenfeldt from Antioch. In 1860, Jno Cockerill donated land to build a public square on what is now State Route 9 near the corner of Main and State Streets; this area became known as Cockerill Square today. In 1865, the American Civil War ended with General Ulysses S Grant's surrender at Appomattox Court House in Virginia; during that time, most residents left Santee for other parts of Contra Costa County because there were no available jobs or money to return home after hostilities ended. A new store building was constructed north of Old Town Square in 1870 by Wm White & Bros.; it burned down in 1902 but was rebuilt as a two story brick structure with limestone trimming that still stands today (rebuilt following a fire which destroyed most of downtown Santee in 1962). A new jail also replaced the old one on Depot Road east of town center in 1901-02 when Castro Valley annexed Santee becoming its own municipality separate from Santa Clara County In 1911-12 anew bridge across Raccoon Creek opened connecting east side with west side making it possible for people living east end to live west side while still using Raccoon Creek water supply without having to go far away into Peninsula county . That same year Strom Thurmond became governor and he designated Santee as his official campaign headquarters; later that same year he won his major election victory against Adlai Stevenson in Los Angeles yards from where we stand today over 100 years later
