In 1853, Manuel Miranda moved into the area which eventually became Santee from Mono County and platted it out as Rancho Viejo del Paso (later renamed Rancho Bernardo) which included parts of present day SantEE including parts of today's Del Norte County and Kern County. By 1870, Rancho Viejo del Paso had grown so large that it included three villages: Dos Rios (later Westfield), Laguna Seca (later Seal Beach), and Escondido which are still extant today within present day SantEE boundaries. It wasn't until 1899 that Santiago Canizares created Rincon Park - an artificial lake filled with dredged sand - which would later become home to many famous establishments such as Disneyland®, Universal Studios®, NBCUniversal Entertainment Company®, Warner Bros., and Pepsi Cola® World Headquarters® – among others! The early settlers were followed by more businesses over time making this community one of commercehublness throughout much of Northern California during its early years. However, he continued to develop these properties until his death in 1923. Through their donations and enterprise efforts, Irvine helped form some of the earliest local communities in Southern California – including Camarillo and Riverside – while also establishing himself as a major influence on early Californian culture.
