There is no doubt that the history of firearms in Santa Rosa, California dates back to at least 1853. That year, a group of men who were members of the Santa Rosa Rifle Club erected a small gunsmith shop on the corner of Main and Third Streets. The shop was later known as W.A.B. ( Western Armory and Bureau) and functioned as a center forgun purchases and repair for local residents. The first pistols manufactured in Santa Rosa were crude devices made from oakum, leather, straw or other materials which were inserted into wooden frames. In addition to its effectiveness as a weapon, this revolver also served as a marketing tool for Wacoal Ammunition Company; it helped promote Winchester Firearms products in local newspapers and gave new life toOld West stereotypes about Americans being rough around the edges with their guns! Despite its popularity as a weapon, there was never much demand for revolvers in Santa Rosa; most people simply didn’t own them nor had they ever needed them for self-defense purposes! However, this didn’t mean that revolvers didn’t have some significant historical moments – such as when they were used to shoot down an Apache horse during the Spanish-American War! Eventually, rifles began becoming more popular in Santa Rosa; this is probably because rifle clubs started forming here specifically to teach shooters how to use firearms effectively! And although shotguns continued being used extensively until well into the 20th century (!), handguns gradually replaced them as the primary means of firearm ownership here beginning in earnest during World War II! As gun ownership increased throughout America during this time period (the Gun Control Act of 1934 finally went into effect following WWII), so too did handgun ownership across California – makingSanta ROSa one of the most heavily armed cities in all of California!

On January 14, 1947, the Santa Rosa Police Department adopted a new policy to allow concealed handguns on city property. This was in response to the shooting of two police officers by Arthur Reardon on December 5th, 1946. The new policy allowed citizens over the age of 18 with a valid license to carry handguns without having to provide Identification Number or carry permits. In 1973, Mayor George E. Prentice announced that all firearms sales within the city limits must be through City-owned and City-operated stores. This change was prompted by the assassinations of three mayors in less than a year; Mario Buscaglia (1974), Lloyd Bakke (1975), and Ken Wagner (1976).

That same year, Gun Control Act passed by Congress which regulated firearm ownership by making it illegal for anyone under 21 years old to possess any type of firearm without prior written consent from their parent or guardian(s). In 1933, President Franklin D Roosevelt signed into law National Firearms Act whichregulated firearms Ownership more severely than ever before with registration requirements for all handgun owners as well as new restrictions on interstate transport/sale/transferring firearms

On July 4th 1870, during a firefight between Umpqua Indians and American soldiers near Present-day downtown Santa Rosa, Lt Col Charles Fetterman led a force composed of his Company A (Umpqua Rangers) with artillery support into battle against 6 Indians who had attacked his wagon train; this event is also celebrated as Independence Day in Santa Rosa today. By 1880s most of what are now DowntownSantaRosa were built including State capitol building which still stands today In 1896 voters ratified Measure M which renamed downtown Santa Rosa from Spanish Mission Plaza to Civic Center District; this name change coincided with passage of state legislation authorizing annexation by Fresno County. On November 3rd 1903 Mayor Wm E Hadden ordered all public buildings except for police headquarters to be destroyed due to high taxes levied by then Mayor Jens Ludwig following Los Angeles' entry into the country that year; although very few buildings survived destruction thanks to quick rebuilding efforts by citizens many Locals attribute their current appearance to early 20th century reconstruction techniques employed by Don Menaul & Sons Builders Incorporated On November 11th 1914 during World War I General John J Pershing visited Berkeley several times en route from Sacramento via Fresno; one such visit resulting in an agreement whereby Pershing offered military training opportunities to students at UC Berkeley campuses if they entered military service within 10 years This experience helped lead directly to UC Berkeley's status as one of America’s leading universities while also inspiring numerous young Californians (many still living here)to pursue higher education across the US Midwest during WWII through programs like ROTC and GED
The first Europeans to explore and settle in what is now Santa Rosa County were the Spanish, who came in 1542. The area that is now Santa Rosa was part of Alta California under Mexican rule until 1821, when it became part of the United States. In 1846, during the Mexican-American War, Santa Rosa County sided with Mexico and fought against American forces. As a result, many of its residents lost their homes and businesses to war-time destruction. The population of Santa Rosa changed little from its peak in the 1840s until around 1900. After that point, rapid growth led to increased social tension and gradually declines in population over time.
