There is no question that the history of gun magazines in Santa Rosa, California began with the opening of The Pistolero, a store and shooting range on Main Street in 1892. At that time, revolver ammunition was very expensive and most people chose to buy it wholesale from merchants who transported it by wagon down the street. Because of this, The Pistolero quickly became one of Santa Rosa's leading firearms stores. It continued to be a major business until around 1915 when ownership passed to John J. McNamara and his son-in-law Harry A. Heineman. From then on, The Pistolero became known as "The Heinemans' Store." In 1916, Harry A. Heineman died suddenly and was succeeded by his son-in-law Julius S. Kappenberger who operated the store until 1951 when it changed hands again and finally closed in 1955 due to financial difficulties. In 1957, Gun Owners of America (GOA) bought the store and reopened it as their local chapter's first official armory where members could learn about hand guns and ammunition for self-defense purposes. In 1827, two Englishmen by the name of Baker and Richardson saw potential for developing what would become known as "Napa County." They recommended that Mission San Francisco be erected here because it was accessible from Paraná Bay through Vallejo Creek which separated Napa County from Contra Costa County; it had also been ruled by mission priests since before missions were established there in 1778. Provisional plans were made to build a mission here but nothing actually happened until 1840 when Father José de Jesús Marín y Ortega decided to open another mission nearby at Petaluma due to growing pressure from settlers who wanted land east of Napa River that could be worked more intensively than what was available west of it including their old home base at Yountville...In 1847 arrived Captain John Cushing who surveyed De Anza Ranch southward along Amador Creek towards Petaluma wharfage on Humboldt Bayou...As opportunities arose various groups rushed into town seeking mineral rights or land grants along Amador Creek etc.; among these were James Wolkart & associates organized under Captains Wolkart & Clarke (renamed Eureka company) who leased lots on Center Street between Third Street & Fourth Street about 1850...On November 12th, 1851 local resident George D’Aoust postulated that an angel visited him while he gardened his front yard asking if he should build a church or cemetery because “the Saints are coming soon”…soon after D’Aoust’s sermon influential Thomas J Fenton purchased one acreage near Center Square containing Lots No 1, 2 & 3 which still sit today just east of First Street between North Main Streets boundary line! From this start building materials such as bricks came drifting downriver like Don Pedro Sanchez did when he landed ashore transporting goods upriver following Juan Rodríguez's recommendation… over time various other families joined forces with Captains Wolkart/Clarke team including Beaumont family patriarch Augustus Mason Bainbridge who together bought Lots Nos 6-10 on Centre Street (now Masonic Way) adjoining Wolkart/Clark Estate beginning around 1865….It wasn’t until 1876 when some enterprising citizens pooled their money together purchasing Lots Nos 11 – 15 on Center Street adjacent Gorman House becoming known as “The Annexation District” due to increased efforts by others joining forces including Jameson family patriarch John Jonson Jr., brother Jonathan Jonson Sr., siblings Seth Barton Jonson (alias Barton), Michael Barton Jonson (alias Mick), Justin Barton Jonson (alias Justin) all born in 1895 or earlier…In 1865 parcels #1 thru #3 inclusive were sold by Augustus Mason Bainbridge to Nicholas Fenton ($8 per acre) naming him Presidente del Partido Republicano Americano [sic] Association member having first voted at that caucus meeting held inside City Hall December 8th against Adolphus Greeley candidate…Over time various organizations such as Business Men's Club formed congenial relationships w/ different members belonging thereto………………………………………..
