Santa Paula, California is a small town located in the San Joaquin Valley of California. The population was 9,643 at the 2010 census. It is part of Northern District of Fresno County. Santa Paula is a small agricultural community and has a rich history dating back to 1847 when Don Jose Alvarez founded Rancho San Pablo de la Purísima Concepción on what is now the east side of town. In 1873, John Sutter discovered gold near present-day Santa Paula and decided to establish a mining camp here in order to find more opportunities for wealth and humanity's good. He named his discovery "Sutter's Fort" after him and the town grew rapidly around it. By 1907, there were over 3,000 people living in Santa Paula. The post office was first established in 1909 and continued operation until 1959. Today, most businesses are located along US 95 south of town or within walking distance from their shops and restaurants with few remaining main streets outside of downtown proper carrying any significant traffic or commerce other than essentials like milk, grocery stores, hardware stores, pharmacies etc.. In 1915-16 an attempt was made by the United States Postal Service to create an express service via truck from Sacramento through Needles (now Riverside) down Highway 99W between Stockton and Visalia but no progress was made because Route 66 became the dominant highway arteries then connecting these inland communities instead The Golden Gate Bridge opened up new opportunities for trade as well as travel which led to many farmers moving into Silicon Valley during this time period bringing their equipment and animals with them while also creating numerous jobs for local people who increased residential populations around Interstate 5 which paralleled various farming villages northeast of downtown until they too went out of business during World War II when military barracks were built nearby giving rise to today's only commercial development - Camp Pendleton Army base - directly across I-5 from downtown Santa Paula! This growth brought about significantly more automobiles onto our roadways as commuters increasingly sought out cheaper housing available only minutes away rather than investing time commuting each way! And so we have come full circle: Downtown business districts are becoming increasingly gentrified... While much remains unchanged throughout its history including many pioneer families that have contributed so much to this remote corner ol' America... One thing that has not changed however... is streetwise hospitality; locals still stop by your house if they see you're having trouble getting away on time without being caught up in all the hubbub; ask them how they're doing before going off on your special mission!

Santa Paula has been part of the Inyo County government since its incorporation. The Santa Paula Mining District was established in 1865 and yielded significant amounts of silver and gold during the late 19th century. A smelter built in 1875 on First Street processed various grades of silver until 1922 when it closed due to lack of ore quality. The plant reopened as an ammunition depot for World War I before closing again for good in 1928; it reverted to being an industrial storage area for wood products until 1978 when it was sold to Anadarko Petroleum Corporation for $2 million. The North American Rockwell International Company began production at what is now known as Red Hill Mines near Ocotillo Pass in 1966; they produced copper, lead and molybdenum until 1984 when they closed down due to competition from new generation mines across America based on lower costs caused by technological advancements over those years. remained open for Storage Use until 1989 when it burned down days after company officials moved out after safety concerns were raised about asbestos stored there adjacent to Highway 395 which runs through town center
Santa Paula was founded in 1849 by the cooperation of four Mexican brothers who were looking for a new place to build their rancho. They named it after Saint Paul, an apostle they knew from their travels in Mexico. The town grew slowly but surely and by 1875, it had a population of about 100 people. The town became an important transportation center for the Santa Paula Valley because of its location at the mouth of the San Joaquin River. Passenger trains arrived and departed from Santa Paula Station until 1959. The station was destroyed by fire in 1957 and replaced by a new building which still stands today. In 1916, postcards were first sent from Santa Paula with images of local residents decorating small postal cards with tips on how to improve their homes or gardens. By 1922, there were so many postcards that the townspeople decided to start sending more than just tips; they started printing cards themselves! In 1951, two-time Olympic gold medalist Jesse Owens moved to Santa Paula and found his dream job as head track coach at nearby Don Quixote Elementary School. Owens would later become one of America's most popular celebrities and help make Santa Paula known worldwide as the "City That Never Sleeps." In 1964, he donated $1 million to fund city hall renovations that included a new library and plaza area central to downtownSanta Paula.
