Gun lights were first introduced to the Santa Paula area in the early 1920s. At that time, handguns were not common in California and there was no specific law regulating the sale or use of firearms. As a result, numerous individuals and businesses located in Santa Paula began using gun lights as an advertising tool to promote their products. One such business was H.A. Saunders & Sons Inc., which operated a firearms dealership on First Street near State Route 101. In 1926, Saunders purchased two old shotguns from Hennepin Firearms Company and installed new green-and-white gun lights at his dealership. From then on, Saunders’s gun light displays became renowned throughout Santa Paula for their innovative design and quality of product. In the late 1920s and early 1930s, concerns aboutThe Depression led to a shift among American citizens towards more peaceful methods of self-defense including the ownership of firearms. This change in sentiment also corresponded with increasing sales of handguns in California, which coincided with the growth ofSanta Paula as an agricultural center. Gun lights remained popular among Santa Paula residents through these years because they were easy to operate and could be used multiple times per day without having to recharge batteries. Santa Paula, California is a small town located in the San Joaquin Valley of California. The population was 31,827 at the 2010 census. Santa Paula is one of two towns in Ventura County along the Southern Pacific Railroad that are served by Amtrak. The first Europeans to visit Santa Paula were Spanish missionaries in 1769, who named it El Dorado since it had abundant gold and silver mines. The mission was abandoned in 1824 because of Indians' resistance to conversion to Christianity. In 1848, General Antonio Lopez de Cordova established a post office at what is now downtown Santa Paula. In 1850-51, prospectors discovered gold and silver deposits on nearby hills, which led to an influx of people and development around town. The post office moved from its original location in 1852 and became known as "Old Town" (later "Downtown"). In 1870-71, contractor James Wickersham built what is now the first commercial building in downtown Santa Paula - a three-story redbrick structure with gables and a tower rising 180 feet (50 m). It functioned as both the post office and mercantile center for many years. In 1876-77, local entrepreneur Charles Goodyear constructed a new brick courthouse that still stands today. Goodyear's business attracted settlers from all over Northern California who wanted easy access to justice system and other resources available in Ventura County while also enjoying good quality goods unavailable elsewhere. For several years following its construction, this building served as county seat until newly built Ventura County Courthouse opened in 1906. The growth of agriculture during World War II led to increased demand for land around town; however, little progress was made until 1957 when voters approved passage of Measure P1 – which provided for creation of an urban center within city limits adjacent to existing businesses within city boundaries without undergoing annexation by the larger community – making downtown Santa Paula an official municipality separate from Ventura County with its own government services and budgeting authority. This event helped spur further development around town including: new housing developments such as River Oaks/Uptown/Pleasant Park; professional sports teams such as the Lakers (1946), Kings (1968), Padres (2006); mall expansions such as Chico Mall (1973), Westfield Santana Row (1986) ; Whittier Shopping Center; numerous small businesses; major reno projects such as Interstate 5 widening nears town center between 1990s & 2000s

Santa Paula is a small town in the Central Valley of California, located about an hour southeast of Sacramento. In 1915 a water tower was built which still stands today and served as the town's municipal hall until 1966 when it replaced the old courthouse which had been burned down in 1954. In 1921 two schools were added to the school system: one for district 6 (now part of Contra Costa County) and one for district 7 (now part of Kern County). In 1927 three new churches were erected: Our Lady of Peace Church, St active Catholic Church, and Immaculate Conception Parish Chapel- all are still standing today! The population of Santa Paula increased rapidly during World War II due to its proximity to military bases such as Stockton Naval Air Station and San Francisco Airport; however, following the war there continued to be significant decreases in population due to commuting distance and other factors.
