After World War II ended, many jobs disappeared as technology changed and new methods were developed for producing goods such as plastics or textiles instead of metal or wood products. However, some businesses did continue to operate through the late 1990s into 2000s when those companies went out of business due to competition from online retailers or other technological advances. Some notable examples include Laundromat (founded 1946), Radio Shack (founded 1938), ABC Television Network (established 1951), Burger King (founded 1948), Jane Goodall National Park (opened 1959) and most recently Adobe Systems Incorporated (opened 1997). Today, economic opportunities are largely derived from tourism which accounts for about 60% of local employment; agriculture provides about 30% while defense contracting makes up another 10%.
