In 1915 Father Edward Javanese established "Stationship Catholic Church", now Cathedral Basilica Of Our Lady Of Guadalupe inside Campus Martius Park after planting a cross outside Stationship Hotel where he had been staying when he arrived in America from Mexico City two years earlier seeking refuge from Porfirio Díaz's revolutionary government which had just executed Aztec Emperor Moctezuma III following weeks of bloody civil war between forces loyal to Moctezuma's uncle Tecumseh (a general under Francisco Vásquez) and Díaz supporters led by Pedro de la Torre y Aguilar (nephew of Vicente Lopez). On January 1st 1922 Bishop John Fenton consecrated Holy Cross Cemetery located adjacent ToHoly Cross High School with interment forieners including General Tomahawk Indians killed during World War I at nearby Sheppard Air Force Base while stationed there: 7 Officers & some enlisted men killed & 3 Wounded Amongst them Captains Hines & Foote Killed w/ Gunfire From American plane while flying over Tucson AZ during 1944 desert Campaign - buried here Also buried are many Soldiers Who Died In Desert Theater Of World War II While serving With USMC - nearby Also buried are many Sailors Who Died Serving In WWII At Naval Station Laguna Niguel Alongside their Shipmates Buried There
