On October 3, 1957, the Santa Fe Springs Police Department established its own security forces unit which consisted of three officers and a sergeant. The purpose of this unit was to protect citizens from crime and disorder occurring within the community. This department has been responsible for maintaining public order during holiday celebrations and other special occasions throughout the years. Beginning in 1966, Santa Fe Springs started an annual Western Gun Show which attracted exhibitors from all over California as well as visitors from all over the world. This show is now one of the largest gun shows in Southern California with more than 350 exhibitors exhibiting their products

Railroad development increased competition for land in the San Joaquin Valley and created opportunities for businesses to expand into new markets. Businesses such as Waddelland's department store arrived at SantaFe Springs soon after it did elsewhere in California; nevertheless, they were unable to keep up with population growth or improve services offered to residents. Traffic congestion became a problem when automobiles replaced wagons as preferred transportation methods in the late 19th century; however, engineering solutions were not available until after World War I when Major General Hap Arnold directed engineers to study ways to alleviate traffic congestion within Los Angeles County. Afterward, engineers began developing plans that would make SantaFe Springs one of the most successful communities in Southern California during this period. The firstphaseoftheCentralPacificRafael Ramirez Bridge was completedin1927 linking downtownSantaFeSpringswiththevilleville areatothenorthwestontheSouth Pasadena Freeway (now Interstate 5). This bridge helped spur further economic development because it allowed cars access to downtown SantaFe Springs from villeville while providing an efficient way for people to get around town without having to walk or ride their bicycles

However, Santa Fe Springs continued to grow and become more popular until World War II when it lost much of its population because of the war effort. After the war, many people returned to the town but it decreased in popularity again until it regained some popularity in the 1970s when new development began to take place in nearby Victorville.
