Guns have been used in Santa Barbara, California for centuries. In 1847, a gun lock was invented by Captain George Washington Goodwin and Dr. Isaac Brockman in San Francisco. The first guns to be registered in Santa Barbara were pistols on September 25, 1849.
Santa Barbara is a city in the US state of California. It is located on the Santa Ynez River, about 60 miles (100 km) south of Los Angeles and 100 miles (160 km) north of San Francisco. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 68,946. The name Santa Barbara comes from Spanish St Bartolomeu, who discoverer of Santa Barbara Island in 1592. In 1821 Governor Manuel Micheltorena designated it as part of Rancho San Miguel del Sur Province. The first European to see what was now Santa Barbara was Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo on October 8, 1502 when he sighting land that would later be called "Isla de la Verdugo" (). This was during his third voyage under Admiral Juan Fernández de Castro and sometime between November 9 and November 12, 1502 he sighted what he thought were two small islands but soon realized they were a single island because he could see "the shore flying with the wind." Juan Rodriguez sailed downriver until his ship got too close to an iceberg which caused him to turn back and return upriver; this event is sometimes considered to be the first landfall by Europeans in southern California. He named both islands Isla de la Verdugo (the "Island of Blue Jay") after one of his sailors who caught some blue Jay birds while sailing thereabouts. Three years later another sailor aboard Christopher Columbus's flagship La Niña discovered Isla de la Verdugo on December 14th1504 while sailing downriver from Point Conception towards Catalina Island. Jesús Sepúlveda landed there on January 3rd1519 after finding passage through land masses known at that time as Sinaloa and Baja California Peninsula which lay east/ southeast of El Dorado Hills ridgeock mountain range forming much today's Ventura County seat: Silicon Valley .Sepúlveda named all four islands - Islas de las Cabras (), Islas Canarias (), Carretera Real de Tierra del Fuego () and Islas Malvinas () - El Dorado Hills Ridgeocks (). Today these are still sometimes called by their original names: Santiago del Norte (), La Purísima Trinidad (), El Dorado Hills Ridgeocks () or Arequipa (). On September 28th1871 American Commodore Perry anchored off Punta Arenas harbor saving supplies for General Victoria Oroville's ill-fated expeditionary force commanded by John C Carr Lockyer during Mexican War campaign against Alta California Mission Dolores at Refugio Lopez As part of United States role in World War I local businesses were asked to contribute materials for wartime production such as munitions plants such as Naval Ammunition Plant No 1 where shell casings removed from artillery rounds were made into artificial fur insulation pellets

In 1935 , John Browning invented what is considered to be the world’s first pistol lock ..This pistol lock relied on two keys – one that operated the slide release (the strikerfired mechanism) and another key that operated an unlocking bolt located at the back of the grip/frame assembly During World War II , various military personnel needed Firearms Safely stored away from unauthorized access Gun Lock manufactures had been produced especially during World War I as Government Regulations demanded standardized design so all armament dealers could produce Lugers Clone guns etc………. during wartime restrictions must meet requirements set by Defence Requirements Arranged under Directorate Security Branch headed by Navy Commander….. after end war hostilities disarmament arrangements took over After 1945 there was large demand for new replacement parts/pistols within Armoured Forces as stocks ran out due to RAF cessationfire following Second World War….. Production resumed shortly after Armouries reequipped with latest technology............. After Armouries withdrew support & ceased production again much interest fell through until finally Repeater Pistol Company was formed 1957 who produced last few years surplus parts straight from production line

Santa Barbara is a small town in California, located on the Channel Islands. The population was 7,814 as of the 2010 census. It is part of the Santa Barbara County, California Metropolitan Statistical Area. The name "Santa Barbara" means "Holy Roman Emperor's landing." The first Europeans to visit this area were Spanish fishermen who landed in what is now Santa Barbara County on November 15, 1769 and named it San Carlos de Anza after Saint Carlos of Hungary. In 1836, when Mexico acquired Alta California from Spain through the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, Santa Barbara became part of Mexican territory. The first permanent European settlers arrived in 1846-1847 when American soldiers under General John C. Fremont burned down Mission Santa Ynez (1846). A post office called Santa Barbara was established in 1851., and remained in operation until 1906. The first store opened at 5th and State Streets in 1861 by Wm Fenton Vail and his brother-in-law Amos Norton Seymour. At that time there were only a few stores throughout the county because most people engaged in agriculture or cattle ranching. By 1870 there were over sixty businesses operating in what is now downtown Santa Barbara; including seven grocery stores, three bakeries, four hotels/motels, two printing presses, eight banks/trusts and six restaurants/bars. In 1916 Mayor James Murchison founded the city council which would later become known as the Board of Supervisors with Murchison serving as mayor from 1923 to 1946 inclusive; during which time he also created much of downtown SantaBarbara's today' architecture including several blocks between State Street and High Street which still stands today as plaza Mural Park (now renamed Justo García Plaza). In 1949 Supervisor Don Schluter organized a bond referendum for downtown redevelopment but failed to secure enough votes to pass so he resigned instead becoming supervisor for Adelanto Hills; however his successor Dick Thornburg successfully passed Measure R which funded many much needed repairs Main Street had gone through during Schluter’s term while also creating some new icons such as City Hall (1953), First Unitarian Church (1957), University Avenue Shopping Center (1964), Macy’s Department Store building (1968) – all constructed during Thornburgh’s tenure - before being replaced by current City Hall last year following an unsuccessful campaign led by then Supervisor Laura Garza who lost her re-election bid against candidate Rudy Baca Jr.. During its heyday DowntownSantaBarbara employed more than one thousand local residents plus dozens of contractors working on various projects throughout its core area from art galleries and theaters up until large shopping malls like Regal Cinemas Union Square mall built just off US 101 south near Highway 1 across from UCSB campus - Today one can find many small businesses closed up inside old movie theaters... In recent years DowntownSantabarbra has seen a rejuvenation with several new bars & nightclub openings along with increased foot traffic especially around 3rd Ave., Broadway & State St where once again much OF SANTA BARBARA'S CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT WAS PRESENTLY CLOSED UP BETWEEN STATE STREET AND HIGH STREET... Currently many developers are planning to revive MUCH OF DOWNTOWN SANTABARBABA WITH A NEW ZONING PERIOD IN PLANS FOR 2020 thru 2024
There are a few general points to consider about Santa Barbara's history. The city was founded on September 29, 1853, by Spanish traders as the port of Acapulco de Santa Barbara. The first European to visit Santa Barbara was José Altamira in 1776, and it became an important center for wine trade and culture. In 1821, the new Mexican government designated Santa Barbara as the capital of Alta California under Governor Manuel Micheltorena. In 1848, when Mexico gained its independence from Spain,Santa Barbara became part of the newly created Mexican Republic. From 1849 until 1861, it was the capital of Sonora Territory; then from 1861 until 1912 it was the capital of Baja California Territory. The city experienced a significant population growth during this time period with many immigrants coming to work in agriculture or business opportunities. After Mexico lost its status as a republic and entered into an era of dictatorship under President Porfirio Diaz in 1913, San Barriego began to decline economically and undergo social transformation including increased gang activity and crime rates that continue up to this day. However, due to economic resurgence during World War II (1939-1945), jobs were available for veterans who returned home after serving in the war effort and this helped revive San Barriego economy once again. Today there is much focus on research and development within local companies as well as tourism which has helped support San Barriego's economy once again
