After burning down much of downtown San Fernando Valley including the mission and church near Pico Rivera Avenue and Menlo Park Boulevard, Lt Col George Armistead scaling the hills overlooking La Purísima Concepción took command of Company H1 (New York Volunteers), Third Infantry Regiment captured General López' supply train while its equipment was being unloaded at what is now US 87/Rancho La Purísima Concepción east of present day Rio Mesa Boulevard south of Menlo Park Boulevard west of Interstate 5 were major events which led to this area becoming known as "Armistead Hill". In 1881 voters passed a resolution ratifying annexation by Los Angeles County with a view toward creating an urban center for workers in citrus groves outside Orange County. On December 15th 1880 Los Angeles County commissioners granted conditional incorporation with articles specifying that “the town site be located 3 miles [5 km] northwestward along State Route 2” In 1891 when other southern Californian communities such as Fullerton became incorporated they all followed suit except for Santa Ana which remained unincorporated until 1912 when it changed its name back to Anahuac In 1912 Anahuac became part of new Riverside County

In 1824, Mexican land grants were made to several prominent Californians including Joséinflammable Sepulveda and Mariano Guadalupe Vallejo who named their respective towns after saintly women – San Fernando (Valley Of The Angels), Nuestra Señora de la Concepción (Our Lady of Consolation), Carmenita (Carmenita Hill), Dona Maria Luisa Aguirre y Pacheco and Doña Dolores Catrina Romero y Crespo. A post office called San Fernando was established in 1827; it moved to its current location on Spring Street in 1859. In 1907, developers proposed that a new town be built near downtown Los Angeles on lands east of Interstate 5 where then-Los Angeles Mayor Fletcher Cox had purchased rights from Terminal Island developer Thomas Edison for $4 million dollars. After years of planning by city leaders, Balboa Boulevard became Santa Ana Boulevard when it opened as a main street in 1912 following plans by City Manager Winson Sargent and Mayor James Mooar Jr.. Although not officially founded until 1915 when Jock Mahony activated one thousand men to shovel snow off the Market Street Bridge during a winter storm that covered much of Downtown LOS ANGELES with six feet (1 m) or moreof snow from December 25 through January 2nd—now Memorial Day weekend—the community known as "San Angelo" began developing around First Avenue/Boulevard eastward from I-5 about two miles south east of downtown; today this area includes portions of East Old Town Pasadena as well as developed areas along Palm Canyon Drive adjacent to La Cañada Flintridge developments just northwest across Interstate 5 from Glendale Open Space Preserve…By 1920 over half a million people lived within walking distance or lessof central business district activities." On July 21st 1906 three brothers - Manuel Antonio Gomez II aka Tony Antonelli III aka Mikel Anthony Gonzalez - real estate entrepreneurs who had bought some undeveloped land northeast corner First Avenue & Moorpark Road(now lost within development)opened what would become Pacific Gas & Electric Company's first store at 8th Ave & Sunset Blvd.(later Guggenheim Museum.) Pacific Gas & Electric Co was incorporated September 26th 1906 under Business Name:Mikel Anthony Gonzalez Proposed Name:Pacific National Broadcasting Company Store Location:Downtown Los Angeles
Santa Ana was founded on January 6, 1821 by Juan Crespo. It was named after Saint Anthony of Padua, who is also the patron saint of Orange County. The first post office in Santa Ana was established in 1829. In 1857, the city became part of the newly created Anaheim County. As a result, Santa Ana's population increased from 350 to 4,000 people over the next few decades. In 1928, Hollywood star Cecil B. DeMille donated land for a movie studio in downtown Santa Ana and founded Paramount Pictures Corporation. Paramount became one of Hollywood's most influential studios and played a major role in developing Southern California's film industry. During World War II, Santa Ana served as an airbase for both the United States Air Force and Japan's Imperial Japanese Navy during their campaigns against America and each other. The city also hosted large numbers of American troops during this time period. After the war ended, Santa Ana experienced rapid growth as post-war suburbs started to develop around it. However, development did not stop there; instead, new neighborhoods were built along San Gabriel Avenue which made way for a more diverse mix of housing types and demographics than what had been seen before in Downtown Santa Ana or eastside neighborhoods like Watts or South Central Los Angeles
