This effectively placed restrictions on municipalities’ ability to use tasers without prior consent from those residing within it. Throughout its history – both before and after ADA implementation – taser usage has been met with mixed reactions from officials and members of the public alike. Some have praised its potential for subduing violent offenders while others have criticised its high risk of injury or death compared to other forms of forceps or pepper spray deployment.[3] Nonetheless, even todaylay people largely support its efficacy when used judiciously amidst highly volatile situations.[4]
